Give me a lesson on going active? PLease?

This will be the first time one of my systems will have a component set. never had a car worth putting THAT much money into till now. SO starting my build soon and doing everything right. I have NO clue how to go active, and would really like to. My deck is a pretty old alpine, but i am planning on getting the new Pioneer DEH-80PRS when it comes out.

Can i even go active with the alpine while im waiting for the Pioneer to come out?

I read the Passive/Active sticky and i understand the difference. Just lost at how to wire it all up and then how to adjust crossover points.
