Ghetto 0 gauge terminal+0gauge wire used for extending stock wires to battery?

My stock wires that's connected to a stock female header thing is too short and can't be places onto the male header bolt thing that sticks up on my positive and negative of the battery.

I am thinking about using some of my extra 0 gauge wire + 0 gauge ring terminals to make a ghetto rigg wire extension that's describe in the following picture:

Will this work?

Why does it no longer reach? New, taller batt?
Any extra connections in the circuit will add resistance, Id buy a new cable, but Im anal about such things.
The battery Positive and Negatives are in a different position and the yellow top is a little higher.

I'm not too sure what the stock wires are. I know the positive has a stock going to the alternator positive and something to the starter i think.

The negative has one going to stock ground and something else.

I'm going to be doing the big 3 anyway so hopefully nothing will be a problem.

It will only look ugly -.-

I have a nissan pathfinder and have the same problem you do. I added a small piece like you are talking about and it worked fine for me
Haha. Good to know!

For a second there I thought i was crazy and doing something stupid -.-

Well, now I'm going to learn how to solder these freaken 0 gauge wire and ring terminals.

Got my mini blow torch ready.

God ****it. I have to go to home depot to find some good cutters for 0 gauge wires //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

Back.

Home depot tried to sell me 60$ big *** wire cutters and I said no -.-

I got some other Klein brand cutters instead that were 27$.

I then found out at the cashier that I have 90 days to return it (even if i open it)

I should have gotten the big *** wire cutters but oh well.

I also told one of the home depot guys what I was doing (extended the cable as explained in this thread) and he told me that's a bad idea and that it will only lead to trouble.

So... is my idea still good or bad?

Just do it... What does the Home Depot guy know about car stereo's anyways. If you want to do it right without replacing the whole wire, Stinger makes 1/0 couplers just for this type of problem

I've finally got it done (did the ghetto extension wires with 0 gauge wire + 0 gauge ring terminal). I electrical tape the ends where i attached the extension to stock wires. Hopefully the tape doesn't melt in hot weather and come off //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

It took me the whole day //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif Soldering +blow torching the ring terminals was a b!tch.

Tomorrow: I will work on the big 3!

Stem and small branch clippers work really well for cutting 0g or bigger wire. I would've never thought it but it was my only option one day.

but as for the original topic, as long as your connections are shielded, secure, and tight, it should work just fine.
