getting a zx1000.1 pushing two 12's, i already have a new battery and plan on doing the Big 3 as well but i think i will need something more.

should i look into a ho alt or a second battery in the trunk? a cap?

btw it's in a 1993 Nissan Altima.

I had an Orion 1200D and an Orion 4004 all on the stock alternator in my Scion xB which was smallish. I think you'll be OK as long as you upgrade the big 3 like you mentioned. You probably will get a little headlight dimming, so start saving for an alternator for the future.

cool, i'll try it out first and try the extra battery,

as for the ho alt, is there someone known around here for getting them? or a website? everywhere i tried dont seem to have the one i need.

DONT pay for an alternator install! its SO EASY! just loosen the belt unscrew the stock screw the new one its simple unless your car is impossible to work on. my 88 mustang took me 30 minutes to do lol

not all cars are that easy. believe me.

I have a 60a stock alternator too, it sucks booty!!!
I've upgraded the big 3, added a 2nd battery, and still dim at almost exactly the same spot. I have a friend that uses a 1000 watt JL and he doesn't need to upgrade his alt, and it puts out as much power as my 2300HCT, yet I need one, because of how inefficient my amp is.

I am now spending 700$ on a new alternator+install when I coulda just bought a more efficient amp //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

But at least I'll be able to handle upgrades in the future.
Efficiency matters a lot, but I'm not sure it matters that much. I mean, if you were planning on running that much power, 70% efficient or 50%, you probably would need a new alt.

And if that's a JL slash 1000.1, it is a very inefficient amp also.

A 60A is small for an amp that can draw over 70A by itself. That's is also assuming 100% efficiency, which cannot possibly happen. Then you also have to tie in the current that it takes to run the car and other components itself.

Ya, for sure. 60 is just too small, that's why I went with upgrading the alt instead of the amp. Plus this way I can upgrade later if I feel froggy.
Does anyone else get "used to" the bass, and end up wanting more?

When I first got my system it was plenty loud, bass wise for me. Now it seems like my shit is weaksauce. My friends and family say it's the same loudness to them, but to me it sounds half as strong, almost like my system sounds weaker. Is that me just getting used to it??
//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif I could always use more. Though it's not really wanting louder bass, it's more of just wanting to try everything out there.
