getting the name/number off a celtics jersey

I've wanted to buy a celtics jersey for a long time, but theyre all too god **** expensive.

i was cheap and just bought a jersey of a player that is no longer on the team... number 55, sczcerbiak.

instead of flaunting and old jersey... i was wondering if there was any way to remove the name and number? i know back when i played youth hockey, my dad, the coach, had to iron on the numbers on the jerseys... can i iron these off?
