Called the local UPS store where the package was dropped off, they say they can't do anything without a tracking or reference number. Is the reference number some big random number similar to the tracking number?
I'll provide a little more background on this, maybe you guys can give me ideas on how to resolve this.
My wife got in a bad situation a needed a new phone quick. She goes to a Cingular store and they somehow con her into paying $300 for a Razr. I find out later that day, tell her to return it. She calls in for the return - they won't handle returns at the store. They send her a box with a return label, the phone has to be sent off to their return center. So 3 days after buying the phone, she puts the phone in the return box and drops it off at UPS. We throw away the shipping receipt thinking we wouldn't have any problems since its Cingular. Big mistake.
10 weeks pass and they haven't refunded our money. We start dealing with these people and find out they're an "authorized retailer", or private company that sells Cingular products but judging by the store you'd never know because they all look the same. After a while we finally get up with somebody at the return center, and we start getting different stories again. We've made probably 25 phone calls in the past 2 weeks and haven't gotten anywhere. Still no refund and Cingular itself refuses to help since we're dealing with an "authorized retailer."
At this point I'm ready to open up a dispute with the credit card company. But I would like to have a UPS tracking number to reference - its not required but I'm guessing it will help. We didn't keep the tracking info but somebody HAS to have it somewhere. The people at the return center won't give us the tracking number - they always say "we'll get it and call you back." I KNOW ups has to have this info but the people at our local UPS say they can't do anything - which I'm assuming is just a policy.
