ok i hear all this talk about getting more volts to there amps to increase wattage and what not by upgrading your alt. battery. and the goods. i dont understand how any of this would give u more volts to an amp considering your amp is hooked directly to a battery (a 12v battery at that). no matter what battery u put in your car its going to be 12v's which yer alt. might supply more volts to your electricals in your car but when your hookin an amp directly to the battery how is this changing anything? can anybody explain?

well look at this pic ..

alt hooks up direct to battery, pretty much they are running off alt until alt cant provide enough power and it then drians the battery, but alt goes to same post on battery as the power wire from amps and also the same post as the power from all the other electronics comes from

upgrading alternator can keep your voltage higher by supplying more amps, say your amp uses 100a, lights uses 20, AC/heater 20-30, other stuff? you alt only does 105 a, your out but i doubt your going to be driving around withstereo at full blast and everything on, but a 200a alt supplies the extra power for the electronics to use, a battery might be able to hold a better charge londer or ddep cycle batteries can be drained and recharged many times before the die unlike regular batteries, and upgrading wire just lets more current flow through
