Getting bolts through carpet

I've just finished carpeting my false floor and my box. I have several holes for bolts to fasten it down. Anyone recommend any way to make holes through the carpet?

A drill bit won't work. I was thinking of using a soldering iron to make some holes. Just thought I'd see if anyone else had any suggestions.

I used to use an old soldering iron.

Heat it up, then touch the carpet and it melts away in a perfect circle.

But a drill works, just spin the mother m'fer fast and the strands wont wind, Takes 6 seconds to drill thru sheetmetal, dont be a pansy, give it some pressure

Soldering iron works well. You can also take a round metal rod, heat one end of it with propane, then touch it to the carpet. Dissolves instantly.

I tried a drill but the carpet wound around the bit and I had to reglue it. I'll try the razor. The ones I was using could barely cut through 2 layers of carpet but I'll get some better ones.

it will but if you have thick enough carpet you bit will be useless when you are done.. it will have carpet wound so tight it won't come off unless you cook it..

Change the blade often and if possible do NOT get heavy duty blades as they're thicker and don't cut carpet worth a shit...
