Ok I am getting an HK4000d and an Mmats 1400.2 fixed

The Mmats will power up but will not produce, the HK turns on and shoots my entire car down to 6.xx volts...

I thought I remember seeing that they would not be over 100 but I am obviously completely wrong...

He said on the Mmats,

The MMATs needs the power supply rebuilt, pretty sure I can repair it, gonna be $120 on that one, if it doesn't need outputs too, which doesn't look like it does, if it does gonna be $150 (expensive parts... sorry)...

If it needs the power supply rebuilt then why will it turn on?

On the HK-

The HK4000D is good, just needs half of the outputs replaced, though they are expensive parts... So it is going to be $160.

If it just needs half of outputs replaced then why does my entire car shoot down to 6 volts when turned on?

Please discuss, I want these worked and back very bad but if I am getting ***** then I will go elsewhere...

From his site...

90% of all repairs are under $100.

Most of that 90% are under $60.

I am an unlucky SOB

Your are in the 10% of expensive repairs... Class-D amps are expensive to repair, many of them use large FETs in the power supply that can be as much as $4-6 each just parts cost.

The HK4000D has alot of devices -- so half of them is still alot //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Not familiar with the MMATs amp, though, but I'm assuming it has pricey FETs as I mentioned above.

Sounds like you are going through dB-R -- if you are, you will get a good repair, you will be risking it going somewhere else... many places have a shady rep. dB-R has repaired quite a few amps for me.

I am assuming the outputs are like the channels or something of that nature? Outputs would make my amp drop my entire car to 6 volts?

How does the Mmats turn on if the power supply needs replaced> When I had to replace the power supply on my xbox it would not turn on?

I got a Phoenix Gold X1200.1 fixed from him. 90 bucks and he had it done in less than two days. Just a couple broken FETs. 10 dollar parts, 80 labor. I haven't taken it apart yet, but I imagine the inside will look no different than before, which is a good thing.

I want to keep it, I have heard great things and he seems like a good guy. He is building his new shop and told me he would not even take my amp out of the box until the 23, he had a quote to me that day.

IDK why I was thinking they would be so cheap, I guess that 90% thing threw me off. Just making sure I wasnt gettin screwed. Thanks guys

Chris at Db-r is the best. I spent 10 months trying to get my old Treo repaired. CIA and Audiotekx couldn't do it. CIA kept it for some 6-8 months. Chris had it back to me in a few weeks.

the cost is mainly in the labor.parts are only a couple bucks a piece but they can add up fast. And to do the repairs you have to pull the board which usually means unscrewing FETs and other tedious things which them have to be repeated to put it back together. It is very time consuming. All amps I have had repaired have been no less then $120 and took forever to get done.

How Can I Get In Touch With Db-r, I Got An Old Punch 800 That A Part Fell Off The Board Prob Easy Fix

He's got my Treo right now. I Dont think $150 is that bad to repair an amp. I really tried not to go by the 90% are less than $100 and PM'd him for a quote first. I hear nothing but excellent things about Chris and I'll gladly pay and wait for a quality job. If Jake sends his amps there, he's alright by me then.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
