getting a used car

454's will **** gas like no one's business. Black vehicles in the Phoenix area means you'll have a VERY hot car in the wrong way...LOL! Those big block Chevy motors blew apart for everyone I knew who had one back in the day.
On the other hand if you want to go zoom-zoom and put in some boom-boom, it's a good price for a high performance truck, assuming the miles are right. Just be ready to deal with a HUGE gas bill every month.

Rick
ha yea i know but i dont wanna live here for a long time. I work nights and hardly drive. This truck looks good but like u said that low miles on that old of a truck is a big questionmark.

sorry to hijack but i'm looking for a cheap, reliable car for work. i'm obviously looking at civics, corollas, sentras etc. is 100k miles on these cars too much?
nah alot of people say honda engines dont even break in till 100k miles. theres a reason you see alot of rusted out, doors falling off hondas and toyotas that have 200k + miles on them because they pretty much fun forever.

hell i got 7k trade in on my 2001 civic with 80k miles and it had a few dents, a rust spot and the carpet was trashed. they hold their value much better than most domestics. my girlfriend had an 02 sunfire in almost showroom condition with 33k miles and she couldnt get more than 3500 trade.

Wow i didnt know there was more posts in this thread. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif Anyways i went out yesterday. I ended up going to the subaru dealership. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif I gave them my credit info and they gave me a range of cars. FORD FOCUS AND CHEVY COBALTS FTL! lol. So i gave them my moms husbands credit as a cosigner and i got into a lil higher price range. I ended up after a few test drives in the seat of an 08 Impreza bone stock with 10 miles on it. BUTTTTT

We finished the deal at the end of the night and the loan lender(banks) werent open anymore. It was 9 at night. So they said i had to leave the car there til monday to see if im definetely going to get the car. So i jus checked insurance and its 360 a month. My question is since i have not takin the car off the lot and not had my cosigner sign, i dont have to take the car correct???? yes i know im stupid for not checking insurance first and yes i know some people dont care. Input please.

also i hate all those cars he mentioned except for the bonneville. buicks are lame and almost always that misreable old people gold/tan color scheme. however if you find a good deal on a supercharged bonneville that is a nice car for the money.
ouch... my previous car was a 1999 Buick Lesabre in the gold/tan color scheme. in fact, its sitting in the driveway looking to be sold soon with just over 30,000 miles lol.

Avoid the supercharged V-6's (Ultras, SSei's, a few of the Olds 98/88 series) as they burn premium instead of regular.
Buicks and Olds are "old people" cars but that makes them cheap and also if you get a "grandma car" that's been well-maintained, you make out on that end as well.

Olds Delta 88's will go for the cheapest of all since Olds got discontinued as a brand name.

Going upscale a bit with Park Avenues costs a lot more. Avoid them as they're the same car as the LeSabre other than a few goodies being standard like dual-zone A/C, automatic temp Climate Control and such. 98's can be had fairly reasonably since they're Olds. Bonnevilles come in all sorts of trim levels. For dirt cheap and also a chance to get away from power window costs, find the low trim basic Bonneville instead of the high-line SSe.

Watch the Craigslist for your area as well as the nickle ad sheets. Most people selling them cheap are going for the free ads instead of the standard newspapers or AutoTrader to sell their car.

One time I read the least-stolen car was a Buick LeSabre...LOL! If no one steals it, the cops don't hassle it, if it's economical, comfortable and reliable, what better way to go cheap!

Rick
I should hire you to sell my buick. If you want to start telling people this in the Minneapolis area be my guest lol

BTW OP, Buicks are nice cars and the 3.8 does have some go.

Nope, I don't think so...did you sign yet? You should have a grace period where you can return the vehicle...most places its 3 days. That situation is really doesn't meet your definition of used and cheap..sounds more like new and fckin expensive. Good lord man, your insurance is almost as much as the car payment was on my bmw!

Hmmm...that'd be a "fun" vehicle to have, not a practicle one...but I can't say I wouldn't be tempted personally. If you're serious about it, absolutely run a carfax on it first.
omg. I love that truck. His messages are full tho and he doesnt return my emails. lol.

Yea i know. I told my mom lets leave before i do something dumb. Uhhh. Yes ive signed all the **** paperwork. theyre calling me tomorrow. Im going to say i no longer ahve a cosigner. I dont think i can have two cars with my credit, theyll have to say "oh then u cant have the car." Right? lol.

On the other hand i think my moms husband has a friend whos selling his supra. Not really my type but itll do and i wont have to run my credit to do so. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Good call. thats what I'd tell them. To b honest, supra's are badass, and I'd love to have one...but really, you're looking at acar thats been beat on, at least ONCE in its life, if not more. It's a fast sports car, and thats how its gonna be driven. Just keep that in mind when ya go over to look at it.

Turbo's need to be rebuilt occasionally too fyi. Not tryin to scare ya off, but there's a ton of crap to consider when getting a car. I just got fcked cause I didn't look at everything closely. Ended up buying a car I shoulda walked away from..

If you don't know anything about engines (which is fine) take someone with you that does...best thing ya can do short of taking it to a mechanic to look over.
