Rays Electronics in Addison Illinois is giving me...

-2 12" Alpine Type R's

-1800 class D amp (i forgot the brand, its orange, has like a Q in the front of it)

-4 or 2 guage wire kit

-3.5 cu. ft box

-Cap

-Switch

-Installation

All for $750..... good deal?

Oh and if you recognize the amp's description can you tell me the brand because i forgot. Thanks!

id say get a good amp first that can give good power to those subs then get the subs, box, wire and have them install it, and you dont need a cap there pretty much pointless to use

For $700 it's not bad for a beginner, ignore bmx. While the amp isn't the best in the world, and the cap is unnecessary, the only thing you'd wanna do on your own is a new box. Just sell that 3.5 cube box on here or ebay and build (or have built) something larger, and ported. Type R's hate sealed enclosures.

Yea i was thinking the same thing. i mean im not 100% sure if thats the size of the box because he gave me that deal today, and i was in a hurry so i couldnt really remember everything. but yea i think its good, i was going to go with a ported box anyway

well you can get all the info you need on here; there are some members still willing to help out, including myself... just pm me. if you know how to install, you should always stear clear of a shop, plus you'll get a better bang for your buck.

well in Chicago i get type R 12's for 110 each, 50 for a decent wiring kit, 40 for a box. I would say that ray is raping you. I will install it in a few weeks if you can wait. I am located on the north side (good side).//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I wouldn't do it. You can get those subs new for about $250 for the pair online. I haven't heard anything good about Quantum. No need for a cap, and the wiring/box/install is easy and cheap enough to take care of on your own (shouldn't be more than around $100 in materials). That leaves you with $400 to get a good amp.

i installed my first system myself. learned a lot. saved a ton of money and prolly louder than the shop could have gotten it.
