Gettin' pissed with my ISP.

Bitching and Whining helps sometimes.....if you can get enough people in on it:D
it may

switching companies works better

OP

pull up your signal again when the speeds are bad, see if they change

if they do, you may have a small cut in your line, or just a loose connection somewhere

hmmm
thats wierd

ive seen the 3.5 | 7 | 7 and the

5.5 | 5.5 | 5.5

thats about it on 3 ways though.

ive seen some really old ones with wierd numbers too.
I don't think it was too old as the apt was built less than 10 years ago....

maybe an old one the installer had laying around when he did the work:confused:

10 years is old to me.

lol

i hate working on super old stuff, we usually have to replace shit

then again, it pays very well.

except apartments, its kinda hard to replace lines in an apt.

this was my first thought, but i doubt it now....
whys that? i mean his signal is fine, if theres no noise on the line, no loose/bad fittings, change splitters, run ping tests, most of the time when i see everythings fine ill change the modem out and that was it

if the speed is steadily slow then yes, changing the modem will most likely fix it, but its hard to tell without a tech being there while there is a problem

ive seen it where a nicked drop will cause this problem when its cold/wet outside.

replaced drop/ground block solved that problem.

im an installer though, so id just replace tap to modem if i had the time, running the dedicated line from either outside or the attic, depending on which was closer.

we dont get paid too much for service calls, but replacing those lines would pay a lot better

what DSAM do you guys use up there?

lol really? who do you work for? are you a contractor? we get paid hourly, pretty good pay here, but we have sub contractors for comcast that drive around in pickup trucks that do shitty work, we always have to clean it up, they get paid by the job.

I work for inhouse, directly for brighthouse, not a contractor.

we get paid piecework, and we do pretty well.

no i hate the dsam, we have a few techs that use em but majority of us use triolithics
never heard of it, we have Acterna/JDSU meters, and i couldnt do a service techs job without it

do you do installs, or serice, or some combination of both?

trialithics are pretty fckin nice, i guess they are like 3 grand each so if we lose them we are ****ed. i do installs and trouble calls, for internet, phone and tv. i do a little bit of priority work too with the bucket truck, some special jobs that others cant figure out/do.
