I love my germs personally but I've never heard the profi's. Either set will need an upgraded amp. I thought Profi's were better for running active and the germs passive but I'm not positive about that.

could someone explain why an upgraded amp is such a necessity....i thought this usamps did rated power...this is my first set of components and i want to do it right...i see people running worse amps...and worse components...is this amp really going to hold it back that badly?

you might as well get the better speakers now. they will be fine off the us amp. probably wont even need to upgrade.

but neways i just picked up a set of germs should be putting them in this weekend ill let you know how i like them

i looked at both the profis and the germs and went with the germs because of the better passive xover and different tweeter attetiuations (sp)

I would definetly listen to Don though he seems like he really knows his stuff

also since you live near them couldnt you swing by the shop and check out both sets of speakers

So what do you think that amp realistically puts out? The only possible danger I see is that if the amp is not sufficient to drive those speakers and as a result you push it into clipping.

Other than that I would try to avoid buying speakers that you think that you will want to upgrade later.

So what is your plan for using that 300.4? I have the same amp and I really like it.
