Gated 24hr Security Communities...

I'm engaged and my girl comes from a very private and secret type family, I'm just laid back and not really all that worried about shit happening because now a days anything can happen, all you have to do is be prepared...

More to the point - does anyone live in one?

There are tons of nice neighborhoods and places that are not gated but I'm skeptical about living in a fortress and having to put a sticker on my car to get in a gate every time I come and go and going through hell to have company come over.

What are your guys' thoughts?

Here's what I was reading:

http://www.allpropertymanagement.com/blog/condo-association/pros-cons-living-gated-community.html

whats the big deal about having a sticker in ure window?

if someone comes over, call the gate and give them a heads up.

you should be happy to live in a gated, private community. dont have to really worry about someone breaking in ure car or house for that matter

I reside in a gated community sometimes.

Your gatekeepers will get to know you and you won't have to call the gate everytime someone's coming over or worry about them not allowing people in that you invited unless your gate people take their jobs too seriously.

I prefer individual property gates though.

Only downside is that gatekeepers tend to seem very nosy.

Also in terms of relying on a gatekeeper for security, it's a joke.

I've told many people to just tell them that they live in the subdivision, and the gatekeepers let them right in lol.

The only pro really is that they're more peaceful and don't have a bunch of kids running around outside at night. As far as safety goes though there's not a HUGE difference really because anything can happen anywhere now a days.

Same way I feel.

i live in one, it is not a nice area that put the guard booth up and gate to help with drugs etc. it kinda helped im still doin my thing, you have a card you have to put pass this box that lifts the gate. i have the option to put 3 people on my guest list that get to go in with out them callin to let me know i have a guest. its kinda stupid cuz they just let in anyone , they do check the peoples info and write it down .

So your saying there is not much of a difference in safety between compton and your typical gated community? Please, people who say ANYTHING can happen anywhere are people who live in places where shit does not happen very often.

Ummm you can get killed anywhere. Crazy people are everywhere now. Where you live doesn't matter as much as the people that live there. Do you think murderers, rapists, and all other criminals can't live in a gated community?

Ive lived in a gated apartment (2 different ones) for about a year and a half now. Pain in the ***. At the last one everyones wheels got jacked and their cars were left on blocks. There was even a guy sitting at the gate.

Current one, you just drive in behind someone to get in. Couldnt be more pointless to have a gate.

Good work how much did you get for them:laugh:

what is a secret type family? hahah

Nothing is wrong with a gated community. The only people entering the area should be residents or those whom know a resident. What's the problem in employing someone to keep an eye out for a community's safety.
