Gastric bypass, anyone done it?

junk food now makes me feel like junk.
gastric bypass has made my taste in food change to healthier foods because for example if i eat a cheeseburger from mc donalds i will feel more "weighed down" so to speak, anything high in fat and greasy kinda makes me just feel tired when i eat it now.. and too much chocolate can make me the same

where as

if i eat a plate of vegetables or some fruit or like baked chicken or something like that, then i dont experience the weighed down feeling. so now i really prefer to eat things that seem to be like a "lighter" food. if you understand what i mean by that..

well im not here to argue or anything just giving my opinion as someone who has had the surgery.

i used to try and try and try to lose weight, and i would go up and down and up and down...

it was really pretty shitty, then i had the surgery and ive gone from 400+ to 280 at the present time. honestly, i dont care if i lose any more weight, i feel fine the way i am, im a reasonably big framed guy, i definitely dont think i would look right under 220..

i wouldnt discourage anyone who qualified for the surgery from getting it done, especially since they can do it lapriscopically now also.

Hell is your family rich???

How much does the surgery cost to have done?

my freinds mom did it, and the staples broke and she ended up with some infections i think and other bad stuff.

She was in the hospital for a long time and in a lot of pain and stuff...its a pretty nasty procedure... i wouldent recommend it.

again, i appreciate you opinion, however you've not had the surgery. so i would appreciate it if you wouldnt comment. its not my decision for her to have the surgery, i simply want to get the pro's and cons for her

both my parents have done it

Father was 460 and is now 330, he cheated alot on the diet or would have lost more, ended up having to go back and get stomach stapled because of losing so much and having skin stretched.

Mother was 235 and is now 115 and worked out the whole time, she had hers done laposcopically(sp) whichis with a laser instead of insicion(sp) her skin stayed tight from her exerciing and stuff through the loss of the weight.

From my experience if shes not going to excersixe through it and eat right, both things she should have done in the first place, then the surgery is a waste. At 20 years old theres alot of time you have to be active and make a turn around. My parents are in thier late 40s early 50s and both hold full time jobs and find ways to take care of what they need to.

Any other questions, i can answer through PM's as theres alot of "forum professionals" here it seems

some other things to highly consider,

She willhave to watch what she eats bvery closely, carbonated drinks can rip the inner "sack" which is the tiny stomach they create, as well as foods like hot dogs or anythign that produces excess amounts of gasses
