Gastric bypass, anyone done it?

yeah they staple your stomach to the size of a peanut basically. my personal thought is unless you have a petuitary or thyroid problem, or some other form of metabolism issue, get off your butt. i know that sounds harsh but mike you know what brandie was like and she's lost about 1/2 what she wanted to just by changing diet and excercise.

My room mates mom had that surgery and since shes lost a lot of weight, I never knew her before so I can't comment on how much energy she has or anything. I do know she can barely eat anything, but shes cool with it. How old is your girlfriends sister?

yea, im just trying to talk to people that have done it and see what they say about it. she hasnt really decided anything just toying with the idea.

I know a friend that had it done, he was about 5'9 400lbs at 17 yrs old... about a year and a half since his surgery, he is down to around 215ish. it works, but I have no idea about the health aspects of it

have her check into the lap band ...its adjustable and not permanent my aunt just did that 2 months ago.....

for anyone who is young 17-25 IMO if you've done the surgery or have done it and have no medical reason for your obesity, it's a stupid idea. i've heard more stories of people like that who have the surgery and lose 180lbs then gain 1/2 of it back if not more.

There is a guy in my dart league that had it done. He was huge, wore shirts that said "I see small people".

He had the surgery and I hadn't seen him for about 6-8 months after it and I barely recognized him when I saw him. He has lost 100's of pounds and is still losing it and looks as healthy as anyone else

If I see him anytime soon I will ask him how much he lost and ask if he had any complications

i clean the bariatric office here (the drs that prepare youf or the surgery) and its nasty shit if you read into the information they have
