Gains

Okay, not sure whether this went in amps section or subwoofer section. I have a 2-channel amp hooked up to my sub, but it seems turning up the gains makes the sub quieter and turning down the gains makes it louder... Is that normal? Or is there something wrong with it?

Are you turning the knob the wrong way? Is the knob installed backwards? Factory defect maybe? Are you sure it's the gain knob?

if the label is in "input voltage required to reach full power" then it will seem backwards. after all, the amp must provide more gain to boost a 0.4V signal to full power then it does a 4V signal. thus a setting of 0.4V will have more gain then a setting of 4V, if that is how the knob is labled.
