Gains?

Just wondering if it is possible to damage your speakers by having your gains turned down to low, I'm asking because I don't have the tools to do the gain setting tutorial so I just turned my gains all the way down on my sub amp and my 4 channel amp until I get the chance to do it myself or have someone do it for me.

ok, i was wondering cause even with the gains all the way down I'm still getting pretty good sound only thing is I have to turn my hu up to about 20-23 its a pioneer deh-p740mp it says the pre outs are 6v, but I think they are more around 4v myself

I'm new so I might be wrong, but I thought clipping happens when the signal isn't amplified right, or does that only apply when it's being overpowered?
Setting your gains lower will not hurt the speakers. /nuff said

Granted everything else is set properly...
