Gains with Factory HU???

I plan on using my factory HU, but it does not have any kind of increments on the volume, and the dial does not min/max (it spins either direction infinately), so how the heck am I going to set my gains? Do I just have to control the volume by ear?

yep turn the volume to where you can hear ir distort back it off a little and dont touch it from there.........then set your gains...
