gains all the way down and still to loud

I have a AVH-P4400BH head unit going into an Alpine MRP-F600 100 x 4 at 4ohm amp powering 6.5 mb quart comps up front and 6.5" comps in rear doors (no tweats in rear) Alpine MRP-M1000 powering 2 Dayton Audio HO 10's in ported box all in an 09 Mazda 6.

Problem is the gain on the mid/high amp is all the way down (both channels) and still gets a little to loud to quickly as you adjust the volume, its not really bad.. but would prefer to go even a little lower. I think 40 is max volume on the hu, by the time I get to high 20's to 30 its already the max volume I would want the mids/highs.

The sub amp gain is at maybe 1/8th and its fine overall I would say. I would actually turn it up a tiny bit more but the rattles in my car are so fing annoying I'm not touching it until I sound deaden.

Is there a "treble" setting on your headunit? Most of the headunits I've owned had some sort of adjustment. often times its called something different. Look through the options on your headunit and maybe theres a way to tone down the front stage..

You have an 8-band EQ. Use it.
use the eq to lower the overall volume? I generally use my eq to make fine adjustments to overall sound.

There should be a way to lower the pre out on that unit if I'm not mistaken.
Yeah I need to play around with it.. maybe even open the manual //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif lol

Yes i know that's what i was planning on. Unfortunately the rvca's are a little difficult to gain access to. My other thought was to wrap a wire...

That's nothing but an annoyingly common phrase to try to sound smart. Don't say "gain is not a volume knob" until you can explain how it differs...
