Gah, engine noise is killing me.

^^^ He said he hooked his MP3 player to the eq and everything works fine with no wine so the problem is from there back. Which leaves the RCA's connecting the hu to the eq, and the hu itself. Did you try running the RCA's right through the car to the eq?

I have had problems in the past using seat belt holes to ground maybe try a diff place? and if its a frame vehicle go through the floor drill a hole in the frame and ground there.... that way your 100% that its not a bad ground issue... only other thing i could think of would be change out the plug wires to shielded ones...

Right through the car to the eq? Well considering my EQ is a foot from my head unit, no.

Ive heard bad things about seat grounds too, might wanna swap that. And if the RCA's arent the case then I would pull the hu and wire it directly to the battery and see if that solves it. If not then BUY A NEW CAR!! lol jk //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

It's the actual place where the seat bolts into the frame, not the seat belt. I'm gonna try wiring it straight to the battery tomorrow.

One more thing you can try is running a wire of a decent gauge (10awg should be fine) from the ground connection of the radio to the same ground point of the amp. This should theoretically normalize the ground between the amp and the HU.

I went and hooked the head unit directly to the battery, no noise when the car was off, noise city when its on.

how many amps are you running and how many ground points do you have? have you checked ur ground points with the dmm? not sure wtf is going on swapped h/us and rca's. ran h/u outside and still noise. did u run ur power wire on the same side ur battery at?

I know you said you tried a noise filter on the HU, but I recommend trying something one step up from your typical noise filter - a pi filter. Cap to ground, choke in series, cap to ground.

(from car)-----+-----ooooo-----+-----(to HU)

____________|______________|

___________==_____________==

____________|______________|

____________G_____________G

Ignore the underscores. the ooooo is a choke, == is capacitor, G is ground.

Yes, I know my ASCII art skills could use some improvement.
