Funny stuff on Crutchfield Reviews

I'm looking at different 4-channel amps. Whenever crutchfield sells one I always read the info there since it's so detailed. Figured I'd look at some of the feedback for this amp:

Infinity Reference 7541a

4-channel car amplifier

111 watts RMS x 4

Here's some funny reviews I found so far:

I bought this amp to run some Infinity Kappa Perfect 6.1s. after I got everything installed the amp clips out when I turn up the volume. It sounded great when I was pushing my Kappa 6.5s alone on the rear channel but when I got my 6.1s added to the front channel it doesn't seem to like them. I am now informed that I will have to buy a higher quality amp to run those speakers. Wish I would've known that before! Overall a decent amp for a decent price just not what I expected."

"This amp is just OK

This amp is just ok. It sounds good when it is wired straight. But when you bridge it, it sounds bad. You have to bridge it by using one channel on the front and one channal on the rear. If you are using two subs this amp is not a good choice. The bass boost on it only runs the rear speakers. So if you bridge this amp you will only have boost on the the speaker that you have in the rear channel. I wired both of my subs straight through the rear channels and it sounds good but now I'm not using the front channels at all. If I new this ahead of time I would have bought a two channel amp."

"In the end if you don't listen to your music more than ~ 50% of max then this amp will most likely perform well. However, if your looking to drown out the system 4 cars behind you at the light, go with something better quailty."

"After a while I just wanted it louder and louder so I just turned up the gain more and more (bad idea). For some reason, these speakers never blew. Either they are that good (not likely) or the amp can't make the power advertised. Secondly, the signal to noise ratio isn't listed and for good reason. An 80dB snr is terrible for a class A/B amp. Furthermore, the power ratings are at 1% THD. That's also not good for a class A/B amp."

"i called infinity and spoke with several techs. to find that infinity never intended the amp to push component sets. seems the ohms of the component systems crossover send the amp all out of wack. infinity sent me new capacitors for the crossovers which was suppose to fix the problem. yeah right. i was able to get hardly any extra sound from them. i called them back and they said that if i wanted to hear the 6.1s at their peak performance i would have to replace the amp with a higher performance model. i called crutchfield and the idea did not go over very well. so now i have a system that is not nearly what it should be. you would think that infinity would put a label on it or something that says do not use 6.1 perfects with this amp or something. any way $900 later i am not very satisfied. i have seen this amp on other speakers and performs very well. i have also seen the 6.1s on other amps and they out perform mine 10 fold. great amp just don't use with component set speakers."

I just thought it was funny that people complained of clipping but apparently set the gains to "50%" and didn't bother to use a DMM. LMAO at people saying that this amp "doesn't like xxx speakers". //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif Just makes me think of the amp saying "I don't like you, let's fight".

Although, it does seem to be a common thing for people with passives to have trouble. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif
