had a kid complain to me that his subs weren't hitting.. he drove down to my place, and i started the trouble shooting. amp's fine, wires fine, time to take subs out of box. kicker dvc, only one coil wired on each.

Me: Tim, who wired this?

Tim: My buddy

Me: Does he know anything about audio?

Tim: Yeah, he has a sweet system

Me: Did he install it himself?

Tim: No, his parents are rich, they paid for it.

Me: Ok, on a dual voice coil sub, you have to wire BOTH coils

Tim: Oh, we thought you just wired one or the other

Me (while banging head against trunk): Ok Tim, don't let him touch your stuff anymore.

Thank God he has a wrangler now with no subs....

Me: when the actual impedance (re of a driver) raises because of the enclosure, frequency, ect...... like say when your playing a 20 hz note in a 40hz box...... that's like the closest you'll get the the actual re of a driver being presented to the amp. Everything at and above tuning has impedance rise from the damping of the enclosure especially at the tuning freq.
