Ive considered a wall. When these subs were going in my little blazer, it was gonna be a wall. But in thsi truck, its alot of work to not actually wall off much space. Its just an extended cab truck, pretty small cabin anyway... not like an suv. Its gonna be a [loud] daily driver, upgrading to fully active 3-way w/ horns up front also. If it was for raw SPL, Id be more inclined to go the extra mile and do the wall, as it stands, it shouldn't really need it. Thanks for the advice though... believe me Ive considered it. lol

And thanks for the nice words on the subs. Had them a long time now, bout time I put them to use.

LOL... Im moving to this from an SUV (for my ground pounder)... Im having a hard time adjusting to only having the rear seat area.

But yes, I know alot of regular cab peeps... I can understand. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

i went front/front in my last pickup setup, loved having the subs face forward (RE HC's) but wish i coulda put the port somewhere else, with the port being close to my ears sometimes you could get slight port noise even with a well designed port, simply because you're only 4 inches from it......didn't need AC in the summer tho:)

Subs and ports up in my brothers truck = 146.8 dB

Subs and ports back, port on top subs on bottom in same truck = 148.0 dB

Subs and ports back, port on bottom subs on top in same truck = 147.7 dB

We'll be trying subs up / ports back soon.

Scores are with 2x SI Mag D2 12s in 5 ft^3 with 100 in^2 @ 53 Hz with legal nSPL mic placement on the windshield.

Wow interesting. Most things Ive heard have been bad about running rear firing in a reg car or extended cab. But you obviously know what you are doing. What vehicle was that in? Have any pics? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Thankyou very much for the reply and info.

Thanks cuseikan. Making the box isn't really a problem, I have plenty of experience there. Was just wanitng some insight from people who have played with extended cabs mainly. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif I think my box is gonna be way too big to accomodate having the seat stay. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif Its looking like its gonna be 10 cubes net, 13 gross. That would put the seat up a lil high //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Thankyou for the pics and info, scratch one more vote up for front firing. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

well i've heard that firing the port into either the passenger or drivers door is best in a extended cab but i've never tried it. so far i've had subs and ports up, and subs and ports forward. can't really compare the two because one was with two 12in sxs and the other a 18in MT... both were loud for sure, but in your situation i'd go up/up to give you more room to recline your seats...

10+ cubes. Yeah I can't help you. It's gonna be nuts.
But If you decide you want to keep your seat and do something like my first pic, shoot me a PM. I make the lifting brackets.

I just went to a local comp and got meterd, did a 136.6music. I know that's not all that impressive. But I belive my front seats are soaking up alot.

But I love FF subs and ports. Gives you a nice back rub after a hard days work.
Im gonna build a test box with one of the subs, to make sure Im happy with the sound/results. If so, I'll move on to building the dual box and dual sub setup. Ive had loud daily's before, always wanted that little bit more my system never offered. Now I want something in gross excess so I can always push it to the level I want, knowing I have more headroom to go. One of these 15's in something other than an extreme box with poor tuning for music just wouldn't do that for me Im afraid. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif Thankyou for the offer though. If by som chance I decide to stay with only one of the subs, ill look you up.

In order to make it work we did scoot the box as far forward as possible and left a good bit of room between the woofers and the back wall. If you scoot it back it loses SPL output, although, I didn't write those number down it did decrease.

This is in a 2006 GMC 2500HD Duramax Crew Cab.

I'll have to get a few pics next time he comes by.

Thankyou, great insight there. Apreciate it. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
Im a big fan of rear-firing setups in suv's... hmmm I may have to consider rear fire. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/goodorbad.gif.fe1f80382c74d93547176ee10a15b645.gif
