Full components or just tweeters. Please Help

I currently have 2 diamond D1 12" subs in the back of my Jeep Grand Cherokee. I also have a 4 channel pushing the infinity 6.5" speakers in the doors (65 rms I believe). I am looking to upgrade the door speakers. Should I just get tweeters, or full component systems. Looking to spend under $500. Any specific model suggestions?

Sell those crappy Infinties, and sell your 4channel, as its most likely a piece of crap as well.

Then buy a nice component set, deaden the crap out of your front doors, and get a nice amp.

You should get the cdt cl69cx 6x9 comps and let me know how you like them.... ive been considering those 6x9 comps as well as the ID xs69 comps for the fronts.

On a serious note, a nice full comp set will be a huge difference over the crappy 6x9 stock infinitys. I think its real odd how the gc's come with 6x9's up front.

sometimes it seems like you fellas hold a competition for who can provide the most useless post.

you need to coordinate the available depth with your selection. listen to any speakers you can before buying. liking piercing highs isn't a good thing, FYI. but there are plenty of bright speakers. Do you have infinity Kappa or Reference?

2 basic choices. Upgrade to higher quality 6x9 2/3-way speakers or go full components. Most people would be impressed by a good sounding set of 6x9's. Otherwise go with a with comps for over the top SQ.

The GC and several other trucks + vans use 6x9's up front because they have excellent full range sound. Good low range extension. I've heard a few cars that sounded like they had a small sub in them, but it was just the 6x9's.

You could get adapter plates and run 6.5" comps in place of your 6x9s, it'd give you a much bigger selection.

Otherwise comps> just adding tweeters. I mean, you could add just tweeters but only if you wanted to add a passive crossover to your factory speakers, and cut the wires connecting to the tweeter on them so you're just using the factory woofer, but it won't be as good as real components.
