Fuel Filter..

Is it necessary to change this. Recently did a tune up about 4-5k miles ago.. Gonna do oil again before winter, just did air filter and plugs on my last oil change. Just wondered if the fuel filter was a necessary change. I haven't changed it ever and idk if the guy before me ever did. I put 30k miles on it since i bought it..

Also, my car has been running pretty rough lately. I know it could be a number of things, but i wonder if it could be part of the fuel filter or dirty injectors. Rough idles in the morning till it warms up and kind of rumbles when driving. I was thinking of buying that lucas fuel injector stuff and putting it in every fill up. But idk how well it would work. Any try that stuff? i hear its supposed to be top notch

anything to make the car run a little better w/o a lot of money at this point. Fuel injection clean, maybe new spark plug wires. Donno where to get those though. Air filter, plugs, oil change all that good stuff. Got the best sparkplugs and always use full synthetic now. Anything to keep it running a little longer haha.

Lucas is a great additive to use, I use it reguarly just for good measure. First time i used it i could tell a difference and gas milage increased. Fuel filter will let you know when it need to be replaced the engne comp will let yah know the majoirty of the time. Check the idle input control valve also a cheap and easy swap if your car is idling ruff.

Thanks. How would I go about doing that. And it starts In the morning idling about 11-1200 rms then goes back down to normal in a few minutes. It idles hard USUALLY if I'm in park and on a hill leaning back. Like going uphill. Like once it hits the back of the gear. Like how it has that little bit it can roll in park, well once it hits that it idles significantly louder than on flat land..

Dont know about the transmission deal, but the reason it idles higher in the morning is due to warming up, sort of like choke on an older car, lawnmower, etc.

yes it is necessary to change it.. Unless you want to run your car lean, burn up your pistons, plug your cat......... Small price to pay for a $10 part. Hardest part is getting the thing off the car. I use heat to break it free normally.

LOL @ going through the trouble of removing it to shove a pencil through it.... Plug injectors much?

123k?? You should def change it

heat? like a torch? Now thats smart...i wouldnt even want to use a heat gun around a fuel tank

Change the fuel filter...its easy and cheap. Don't forget a ****** filter and fluid change if you havnt done so already.

That fuel injector cleaner stuff is a joke to me...it can't hurt, but its a waste of money IMO

what kind of car? You have to drop the transmission pan to drain all the fluid out...then change the filter (should be like 15 dollars) then put the new gasket on the pan and put her all back together. its usually not too fun due to the fact transmission fluid goes everywhere...
