I put it in a 1.25cube ported box and it sounded a heck of alot louder.(sounded like a real sub) but it when we turned it up, we got that same popping. (200rms) I pulled the subs and discovered that something MUST be wrong with them. Look at the video.

shit, something aint right with that woofer

both of them do that. i admit it sounds way nicer in that ported box but it shouldn't be popping with 200 watts on it.

This is the first time ive seen that happen with SS subs, and its odd both are like that.

on one side of the cone, you get a normal flesh to cone sound. On the other side you get a distinct pop or crackle, ot whatever you want to call it

Allright, there definitely seems to be something wrong with that woofer and it is eligeable to be covered under warranty. I've laid out a few options and am handling this matter with the buyer in private henceforth. For future reference, whenever you think you have a problem with one of my products, you'll get the fastest response by emailing me. Just as a side note about grills, they can aldo contribute to an *** sounding system. My JL is in the spare tire wheel well and any time there is anything sitting on the grill it sounds as though the woofer is distorting even though it is not. I know that is not your issue I am only mentioning it because you may hearing that in addition to what is wrong with the woofer.

ur certainly got to be feeding a clipped signal. and feeding a cvr a clipped signal isn't going to matter as they sound like *** regardless.

sending a clipped signal to any woofer will not be to the best performance...and I know of plenty that think the VR's sound amazing for the cost.
