My budget is less than 200 for my subwoofer. I've been looking at tne Massive Audio Toro 122, Soundstream T5, Alpine Type X, or.something else spl oriented. What does everyone have in mind. I've been lookin around for about a week now. PLEASE HELP ME DECIDE! Or its gonna be a Massive Audio Toro 122

type X subs are sound quality oriented subs, not SPL subs, cross that off the list.

2.5 inch voice coils on those massive toros with only a 9.5 mm Xmax, not looking too good for SPL.

T5s have 3 inch voice coils will most likely handle power better then the torros but still, the X max is 14 mm

SoundQubed HDS312 will hit harder then both of those and cost less. Xmax is 28

If you have the power to back it up, and stretch out your budget 50 more dollars, you can get a beastly sub like this HDC3.112 Copper Coil Subwoofer will take over 2000 watts rms easily. Xmax is 36 with loads and loads of motor force.

I had four SS T5 10's and loved them, they got louder than I thought they would and handled more power than I thought also. Can't say they are SPL subs but I wish I could find about 6 more to run.

As far as the amp goes Im unsre. I want to buy my sub, than. purchase my amp accordingly. So ir looks like I will be doing some more research. Im looking for around 12-1500 watts rms for the sub. Ive looked at some of the sundowns that run 189-200. Id still really like to keep it at 200. I might be able to talk the wife into it. I have read a lot of good reviews on the nvx mono's and hifonics brutus line.

They advertise 25 mm peak-to-peak Xmax, which still is not impressive anymore.

If you're pushing a 15" woofer to 25mm x-max with 1200W you're doing something terribly wrong.
