Do it man. Test everything yourself. You know you wanna learn how to do these things so when your friends have issues you can be the one to help them.
So they are actually good people. I'm sorry for judging them. I agree, if you wanted the JL amp, and now you've got half off, get it. If not, what other brands do they carry? MMATS amps are pretty good, just wasn't what I wanted. If they carry Kicker amps then get you a ZR series. You've got options.Well I had an interesting evening last night. As I was getting ready to leave work I got a call from the assistant manager. He asked if I had time to swing over. I told him I was still pretty upset and was not sure it would be a good idea, and also told him about the noise I still have. He asked me again to come, that the owner was there and he wanted to try to make things right. I get there and they have me pull my car right in to the shop. The owner greets me and tells me how sorry he is for how I was treated and asks what he can do to restore the relationship. I told him that would be very difficult at this point, but lets first figure out this noise.
He called one of the installers over that I did not know and I said no, it needs to be my normal guy. He is the only installer I trust here. So they had him switch from the car he was working to my car. He listened first, then turned up the gain which made the noise very noticeable. Then he turned the car off and set it to accessory, as soon as the radio booted up there was the noise even with the engine off. He told me that he really hated to say it, but that his first thought is the amp because of all the diagnoses we did with the first AB amp(He is the only one that didn't turn his nose up at the American Bass amps, and didn't think it was the amp the first time until we had tried everything else he could think of) and because there is no noise with my SS amp. The owner said to install the AB amp in his car, and install his MMATs 4 channel in my car and see what happens.
So he switched them around and we listened to my car first. He could not turn up the gain too far on the MMATs because it put out double the RMS my door speakers could handle, but he cranked it enough that it was far exceeding the power that either the SS or AB amp was putting out, and there was no noise at all, nothing, with the car on or off. Then we listened to his car and right away heard the noise. You had to shut the doors and listen carefully, but it was there. Putting the gain higher made it more noticeable.
Now I admit, the noise is not horrible like the alt noise was previously. Some people might not even notice it or care, because once the music is playing you can't hear it. I however am just too OCD, and my mind makes me think I can hear it even with the music blaring because I obsess on it. Also I listen to audiobooks sometimes on my commute and you can still hear it when those are playing.
I thanked them for the effort and had them install the AB back in, I didn't have my other amp with me. The owner said he still wanted to do what he could to restore the relationship and offered me 20 free hours of shop time and 50% off any 4 channel amp in the store. I told him I would think about it and get back to him.
So, is there anything I could be missing here? Any tricks they could have pulled with me standing there? The only thing I didn't watch get done was the AB amp being installed in the owners car, another installer did that while I was watching my installer put the other amp in my car.
I don't want to try another AB VFL 150.4, I know it was just sheer chance that I got two amps with issues but with my OCD I can't try to exchange and try another one. I am hoping I can return it, not sure on a return policy for Mylows10. I will PM him.
What would you do if you were in this situation?
yeah get that, RMA the american bass amp and sell the new one they send back as new in box. Its a great deal for an HD 600.4. The shop(besides the salesman) sound like good people.I just called my salesman, who was back for the first time today, he has been out sick. He had no clue what had went on on Tuesday and when I told him he blew up. He set the phone down and just went off for full minute on the manager, I could hear most of it and got a kick out of it. When he was done I did hear the manager say, dude I f*cked up, really I did man. I admit it. So that was a bit satisfying lol.
Anyway he ordered the HD 6004 for me and used a coupon code on top of the 50% discount the owner was already giving me, so I got it for $350. Hard to beat that deal.
Yeah I think that is what I will try to do, hard for me to sell with no feedback though lol.yeah get that, RMA the american bass amp and sell the new one they send back as new in box. Its a great deal for an HD 600.4. The shop(besides the salesman) sound like good people.
If you cant sell, vertex audio has a trade in program if you ever want to upgrade your front to decent components, they have CDT, RE xxx, incriminator components that sound pretty nice and also krome audio if you want it really loud.Yeah I think that is what I will try to do, hard for me to sell with no feedback though lol.
I think my salesman, the installer I use and the owner for sure are good people. The owner talked to me at length about the manager, some details were in confidence. I understand the situation and why he didn't fire him, but I also let him know it wasn't the first time he treated me badly and not even the 5th time I have witnessed him treat someone else badly. He has to be costing him money. Then again, if I were in his shoes I don't know if I would have handled it any differently knowing what he told me. Also hearing the manager meekly respond to my salesman after my salesman ripped him apart I am pretty sure he was dealt with in some way.
yeah he got a banging deal outta it.I known it was not the experience you wanted but that will be one of the best authorized purchases in car audio history. Good to hear your getting what you want despite all the bs.
I'll take it off your hands once you get the RMA dealt with. In fact, maybe have replacement shipped straight to Jim (you're dealing with him, right?) if that helps any...obviously talk with him first.Yeah I think that is what I will try to do, hard for me to sell with no feedback though lol.
