Front sound stage for S10

Iam getting stuff together for my install and not sure if i will need to do something else besides a 6.5 component set . Currently 6.5 mid and tweet are in each door panel . I have jl audio vr 525-cxi tucked in the dash but was thinking do another 6.5 in door with the tweeter in dash or go back to the infinity 4x6 plate in dash . Iam going to have to get a amp for mids soon and want to start looking around at options ( pending 2 channel or 4 channel if i decide to do more then just the component set )

What ive picked up so far is :

Sundown Saz 1500d v3 amp

2 DD1512 d4

Image Dynamics CTX-6.5CS

You cannot create soundstage by mounting tweeters in the door panels, for soundstage you don't even want tweeters in the door panels (mainly because of horrendous off-axis frequency response), you want the tweeters DIRECTLY in front of you "staring" you in the face, tweeters are very important in any system because they recreate the majority of the musical instruments and vocals, if you had tweeters in each corner of the dash turned inwards a little then mounted another pair of tweeters at the top of the a-pillars and turn them inward so they are facing each other (cross-fired) you will have wonderful soundstage and when you close your eyes the band will be laid out on the dashboard in front of you, imaging is what you're after. You're doing it right when you can sit behind the wheel and look down the barrels of both your tweeters..

Wrong. Aiming tweeters on axis is not guaranteed to get the results someone wants. A-pillars are not a catch-all solution for great imaging and staging. Placing tweeters above the dash is guaranteed to raise the imaging up high, but I and others have had a lot of success placing tweeters high on the doors as well.

Timewarp, what is it you want to gain from these changes? If I understand this correctly, you're thinking of adding another 6.5" woofer in the door and adding another pair of tweeters in the dash. The JL 5.25s would come out. Help me understand where the Infinity speakers come in.

Hi Barry, the dash in the S10 is very short that's why i suggested the far corners but you're right (again //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif, IIRC the S10 door has a plastic sail shaped piece that comes up at front edge of the door and is ideal for a tweeter pod, ..

It's safe to say: Aiming tweeters on-axis will eliminate off-axis response..

dude, you're a fkn noob and have no idea what you're doing. just b/c you created threads on here doesn't give you any say in giving advice to any one. it's bad enough you litter the site with useless threads now you're giving out wrong advice.

k, did you have something useful you want to add (like your fkn opinion) or did you just come here to bash me, you're a bigger waste of bandspace than i am //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

It's good to know i get on your nerves, ..

Thanks for the replies . Trumpet , Its been awhile since i built a system but basically what i had in others was . 4 channel on doorand dash speakers / Sub amp for subwoofer.

Front dash = factory size but upgraded brand

Doors = component set - usally mid lower on door / tweet up higher

Rear = Sub / subs

I dont have even close to everything yet as i'm picking stuff up here and there .

I bought a set of infinity plates used when i first got the truck and was going to use them up front in dash to replace the factory 4x6 but decided to try to fit the 5.25 jl's in there.

Ive since decided to updrade the sound system . Thats when i bought the DD 1512's / the sundown 1500d / Image Dynamics CTX-6.5CS set. Not that it was ever right before the way i did it , but was unsure if just the Image Dynamics component set would keep up with the DD subs . I want to start looking into an amp for either just the ID's or look at a four channel amp if i put another component set in or put something in the dash . Just didnt want to buy a 2 channel and be told should of got a four channel and added another set .
