Friends dual 10's kick the crap out of my dual 12's??

Well I aint gonna lie to ya im starting to agree that jl aint as good as i thought. I have a Jl slash amp powering my components and im very happy with that but these w3's arent cutting it when you say they sound like a loud *** fart you aint lyin!! I regret to say that I had some kicker comp vr's before these and they blew these jls out of the water. They costed about half the price too. I have tried 2 different boxes with these jls and they still dont sound like id like them to sound. They do sound better with them facing the rear and with the rear seats down but them kickers never needed any of that they sounded amazing any way ya put em. I had one prefab ported box that came with the kickers and when the kickers went i got the jls and put em in there. They sounded terrible so I went with a prefab sealed box with exact specs and they still sound horrible. I was considering buying a custom ported box for these but i really dont wanna throw any more money away on em. How many think I should just forget the jls and just get some different better subs completely? The only time these jls sound halfway decent is when there is tight punchy bass but with deep long bass tones they sound like they are gurgling for air!

get rid of them, the amp you have is a very good amp, youre wasting it on those things. and kicker is another thing to stay away from unless youre talking about a solo x or their amps, but nowhere near retail prices. i would agree though, cvr's would beat w3's any day, we gotta get you a real sub(s) and show you whats really up.

I was thinking of just getting one kicker solo x 12 or 15 you think that would be a good idea? Could you name some brands that i could look into i really dont know many brands except for the name brands that I am finding out aren't as good as they are hyped up to be.

solo x's are pretty good but they need some serious box room. and for the price you can do much better. look into digital designs, sundown audio, incriminator audio, ssa, fi, aq, re, dc...theres just too many, all of these vary in price and design/quality but any brand people reccommend on here will not let you down

Alright I appreciate it. my budget is about 1k i just wanna do this right im sick of buying cheap and bieng dissapointed then having to buy again. Ya it would be for daily use. I basically want something that can compete with my home theater sub which is a velodyne ct 150. Not sure if you have experience with that brand but they are amazing. Very detailed but also loud bass. With the velodyne I can actually hear individual guitar rifts as well as feel with the jl car sub it sounds like it all just blends together in one sloppy mess.

if you are picking up guitar riffs in your subs something is wrong, maybe some string hum on sustain but not riffs. only bass guitar and even then only should hear lower notes (E/A strings)

that amp is fine, if you increase power enough to matter itll just eat up all the money on electrical upgrades, that amp does 1300 rms @ 1 ohm. its good clean power. id say keep the amp and make up for the small lack of power with lots of surface area and correct "boxing"

wasn't saying that.. I was wondering what range of subs would be ideal for him.. I'm not gunna offer him to buy a lvl 5 dc sub when his amp can only push 1300 rms.. also goood questions hows your electrical? gauge of power and neg. wire? speaker wire gauge? alt size and how many batts?

I am running 4 guage power and ground my alternator is a 170 amp and I am using 1 stock battery. I dont want bass that will completely drown everything else out I just want something that sounds really good so ya im really not trying to increase the power just get better subs with better sound quality. As for box builders I already told pro rabbit if I have a box built id have him do it so ill have him do it.
