Alright so my friend just bought a used sub/amp kit. The subs are dual 10 inch10wx-4's in a sealed enclosure with a small crappy mtx amp all purchased for around 100 dollars. I have dual jl audio 12w3v3-2's in a sealed box with the specs spot on for those subs. I am running a memphis mcd1100 amp wired in parrallel. His is wired in parallel too. My system costed me over 3x what his did but for some reason his sounds better. His deep bass is soo much louder when mine hit deep notes it sounds like the subs are drowning. What could be causing this? I have went over all my settings and cant seem to find a problem. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Btw my car is a hyundai sonata his is a toyota camry so its not like one is substantially bigger than the other. I know there is something in mine that isnt set right and causing it to lack in performance. I just cant figure out what.

Right now the subs are firing toward the rear of the trunk. Ive never seen it any other way i have always heard thats the best way to do it. Maybe it would be better if i faced them toward the rear seats? Also ya i was thinking about the wiring myself ill have to double check my wiring tomorow. Any other ideas in case that isnt the cause?

Try facing it forward and flipping the back seats down. Cancellation with different frequencies will change and it may hit lower and louder. That is if your seats do flip down. Also upgrade speaker wire to 8 gauge and the amp wire to the biggest wire possible that will help unless of course you've already done that. Also make sure your subsonic is set to off or lowest setting because with a sealed box it is really not necessary, make sure your phase adjustment is set to 0. Check impedance of each sub and check wiring make sure its positive to positive and negative to negative. Make sure gains are set properly. Make sure you have the proper size fuse on your amp. That about covers it for diagnosis.

8 gauge is not necessary on low power subs like that. 12 gauge will be more than sufficient.

Yeah, check the polarity by unhooking one sub and see if it gets louder or just switching + and - on one.

Also, are both setups ported? If his is ported and yours is sealed, that could be the difference in output.

^ yea even 16g is fine for that power.

the best way to face is foward with the box tight to the taillights and fold the seat down. rear firing is way outdated and make ur car rattle like a bish....

Well you were right it sounds phenominal now. You can feel the bass go right through you but I messed up bad! When I was testing it out I didnt wanna bolt everything down untill I saw that it sounded better so I placed one of my amps on the top of the sub box and when I put it real loud it vibrated it right off and it fell and cracked one of the speaker cones. Not that bad and it still sounds mint but the question I have is with the cone moving is it gonna make the crack grow and eventually render the speaker useless?
