my friend just recently bought 2type e's from a custom store. they built him a sealed box and told him a bunch of crap about what material it was (carbon fiber) . i looked at and it was mdf immediately but they did do a good job painting. i then took out a sub from a box and saw they had two layers of mdf. i was wondering what this does for the enclosure.

Just makes the box sturdier and more rigid. I can't see why that is necessary for a simple sealed box... especially for two Type-E's lol. Rest assured, it sounds like a solid box though.

it probably just has a double baffle, as opposed to it all being doubled.

Rather than double baffling do internal bracing. It helps more than a double baffle. Basically the stronger the box is, the better.
