Fried Subs Now Amp Wont Move Speakers

The sub was a dual 2 ohm kicker sub. It was wired with the positive terminal of 1 voice coil connected to the negative terminal of the 2nd voice coil. I fried one of my subs to the point that fire was coming from the coil. Before, the Amp would power any speaker. However, after the fried sub, the amp still Powers on, but does not power a different set of WORKING subs. The fuses are fine and i know the amp is hooked up right, as it was before the sub was fried.... What could the problem b within the amp???? my next step is to use a volt meter, but ne ideas before i can get ahold of one?

srry, i made a change to that post. It wouldnt power a DIFFERENT set of working subs

so u wired the sub in series so the sub was at 4ohms how did u wire it to the amp?

no no, I had 2 dual 2 ohm kicker cvr subs wired in a series. The amp is a phoenix gold octane 8:0:1 mono amp. The final load to the amp should have been 2 ohms, which the amp generates about 800 watts rms at 2 ohms.

Protect light on? I would be very concerned if it wasn't. If you lit fire to a voice coil with that amp, it probably damaged the output section of the amplifier.

Matter of fact, if the protect light isn't on, and you turn the amp on, take a DVM on DC Voltage check and check for DC voltage on the speaker output terminals of the amp. If you lit fire to a voice coil, the amp may be at fault, not the speaker. You may have a DC voltage present on your output of the amp.

I'm totally lost about what you're trying to say and I think you are to. Take your stuff to a shop and let someone that knows what they're doing fix whatever the problem is. Also, I suggest reading http://www.bcae1.com

I am talkin about the positive and negative terminals the speaker wire plugs into. I hooked up a volt meter to the positive and negative terminals and there was no dc voltage

the outputs on amp go boom from what i read.
