freshman at fordham in the fall and i need a dorm setup

It is extremely cost effective when you think about it. Pre-built x-overs are nice and everything, but you are very limited on your options. If you can follow a circuit, you can custom tailor your speakers to fit your needs.

To designing by hand? I don't recommend it unless you have to. It's a wonderful skill to have and understand, but it's quite hairy. I would just ask for a custom design (joetama does 'em I know).

A guide? No, there isn't a guide. All you need to make the most basic x-over (how I started) is a piece of thin wood (pegboard works best), your x-over components, soldering tools and something to hold the components down (usually hot glue). I've recently moved up to making my own circuit boards. It's actually hilariously easier.

im starting to think this project is gonna break the budget and i cant have it do that...any suggestions? im not going for unbelievable reference system quality i jsut want it to sound good for a dorm room ht system
