freshman at fordham in the fall and i need a dorm setup

so i move into my dorm in late august and i need a legit setup....so far i hav sub and amp, but my dad took back evrything from the 5.1 setup so i neeed an amp and some speakers...ill build my own enclosures but i need the speakers...any suggestions? i listen to alot of hip hop and ill be using it for the HT(my parents got me a 32" flatscreen for graduation)...also i would hav to keep this under like 500$

how big is your dorm...i lived in a single freshman year (the whole building was singles so it was fun as hell) and there was noooo need for a 5.1.....a nice loud 2.1 impressed plenty of people even the people a few floors down...where are you going to school?

well i dont hav to go 5.1....i was thinkin prolly just 2 channel + sub (2.1?) since my budget is so tight...im basically a noob to this home stuff tho so im open to whatever

heres what i did...and my shit blew everyone way outta the water..... 2 (now 4) oldschool tower speakers, a 2.1 receiver off ebay for under $100 that does like 100x2....and a Dayton120 Sub combo off of parts express....for i think like 180 shipped...done and youll be louder than anyone else and odds are not sound too too bad for a dorm room

my setup last year consisted of a Yamaha 5.1 reciever, crappy bookshelf speakers for the front, polk mom 6x9's in the rear, and a pair of eD EU-700s for the bass. ghetto as hell but it didn't sound too bad. also had a 26" sharp lcd tv and xbox 360 HD DVD player so it was all good //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

im thinkin i jsut wanna build 2 towers...any suggestions on individual speakers for these towers and what the enclosures should be like

I actually built them, but never got around to buying the drivers and crossovers, I put a partsexpress vinyle cover on em. I think i have a pic of em in one of my old threads, Ill look around.
