Freq control on amp

This is in the amps manual:

"Frequency Control – This control is continuously adjustable from 40Hz through 200Hz at 24dB per octave. Factory setting is at 40Hz."

It's a 12" sub in a 2.5cuft box tuned to 31hz.

If i set the LPF on headunit to 85hz which is the lowest setting, what should i set the freq control on the amp to?

Or is it just preference?

Don't use both sets of filters unless you have a plan and know exactly what you're doing. Either use the amp's filter or the head unit's filter. I would go with the amp's filter since you can go lower than 85Hz and it's continuously adjustable. Just use your ears and decide what sounds best to you.

What about the rest of the system???

Are we just arbitrarily setting a LP filter with no matching HP filter for the rest of the system?

Seems there is no where near enough information given for anyone to give any reasonable recommendation!

For all we know, this setup is completely missing some frequencies

So you like using fixed frequencies set to 85Hz, lol? I was simply addressing the fact that the 85Hz fixed frequency could be the more limiting of the two options, I wasn't trying to give him a tutorial on how to accomplish perfect phase integration between his subs and midbass. That's also why I suggested that he use his ears while he was adjusting things, the rest was implied. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
Anyhow, this is CA.com, home of the deebeez, and I always assume that these setups are missing some frequencies. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/hide.gif.2d479cfd917eedfe201353b91522ceab.gif

I wasn't suggesting your post was wrong... it offered him at least some guidance.

just saying in general, the OP's description is lacking.

Where can I get some of these DEEBEEZ you speak of? I already bought some extra GEEBEEZ"s and WIFI's for my phone! lol.
