Fragile cones?

I've tried with everything i got to get the triple joint to break so save the coils and stuff for dummyloads...iunno why i keep trying...i always have to take a knife to it....

I'm no squirt either....

All the weight is displaced right in the center...on the piston. IMO, this prooves nothing...and I'm an eD faithful.
Put the weight about another 2 inches over and see what happens;)
Actually it's past the piston, if you consider it, the primary stress point is between the motor of the SP which is as sharp as a knife - and the surround, which is as tight as a drum.

Not pretty at all.

Of course, I'd like to see someone try and rip the spider off the former of an A too while they are at it - but that point is neither applicable, nor useful to the conversation at hand.

It's evenly dispersed around the stress point as well. Im talking about the former/cone glue joint. Im sure the cones can take it.

Take a stick...place it on the outer edge of the cone...put an SP on top of that....BOOOP...the cone plops off. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Ben really needs to use a larger flange on the former sleeve to keep that from happening...at least on the 15's.

In those pics...I'm tryin to rip the cone from the former as well...I guarantee I can pop the cone from the former on an ED sub...thats my one and only point in posting those pics..again...our cones wont fall off. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

"E-thug" Taps out after 32 seconds in the first round from a viscious spear off the bat and a deadly choke hold. Goldberg is declared the winner.
haha..took you a whole 32 seconds? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

btw, David, like in your theory of the SP on a stick. Do that to a paper cone and chances are, it'll rip won't it? Paper painted with tough liquid would STILL tear at the sheer weight of the SP (or much less any driver) if the weight was concentrated on such a small area, as a stick might have. I dunno, it's my lame theory so far...

I know that your knowledge about speakers would be second to none, but if what I said about ripping concave paper cones is correct, then I guess all subs have faults, just in different areas. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

ok...put it this way....

apply force...maybe not the weight of an SP...probably less...to one side of that cone. Do it from the top or bottom. I will cravk the glue joint and rip off.

All I'm saying is that if they had more sufface area to actually glue the cone to...they probably wouldve never had a problem at all.

Theres just not enough surface area there.

Take a stick, place it on the outer edge of the cone on a RE sub... Place SP on top - watch it tear right through...

This proves what?

You have plenty reason to post stuff like this, anything you can think of to point out perceived flaws in competitors products means a potential profit gain for your company...

Jlaine, on the contrary, us newbies (as compared to you and David's knowledge) are learning quite a bit. We also make our own decisions and conclusions.

Come on, relax man...//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Considering I will never be applying a stick and an SP on top of that on my 15A or any other sub I own, I don't care //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
