four 12s or two 15s

I'm also curious about the subject, or as a general principal. Local guy hooked up his 4 12" JBL 12W3s (not sure about box) and compared 2 15" L7s in 3'^3 ported at about 34Hz each, both on 1kW, and he claims that the JBLs were better. The only variation on the test was that when testing the L7s, he had an alternator problem and was running on 11V, so a drastic decrease in power, he was not convinced that the output would decrease by that much. Just my 2c from what I've compared.
I would go with 4 15"s. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
2 15" l7 ARE EQUIVELENT TO 2 18" SUBS BASED ON CONE AREA SO i FIND THAT VERY HARD TO BELIEVE

oops typo lolz. a square sub is generally equivelent to a round size 1 step up i.e. a 10 sq = a 12 round its a rough figure based on actual cone area. my 2 12" brutus in an optimum box put out more sound than my 4 12" round brutus in an optimum box.

Like I mentioned before go with the 2 15" Nightshades & 2 saz3500's it will give you that gangster rattle & you will be louder than the rest of your homies, just build the correct box.

You must be using some kind of Pythagorean Mathmatics that I'm unaware of. Possibly even some sort of Torsion Physics model...yes?

i edited it it was suppoesd to say what it says now. my bad not enough coffee yet lolz.

depending on the subs 2 15" subs in an ideal enclosure will be louder and have better sq than 4 12" subs will.

the key is comparing apples to apples same brand model ect., in a situation like that the 2 15" would always be my choice vs 4 12".

I have 2 12" square brutus subs on 2kw rms and my brother has 8 old school type R subs on 800 rms each and I am still louder and much better sq than he is and the setups are in the same vehicles we both have similar year Windstar vans. but it isnt apples to apples either now is it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

best advice I can tell you is to find the sub you want to use and go from that If you can give (with that trunk should be no problem at all) optimum air space for 15's do 2 the sq is better and the spl is going to be the same or more than 4 12's.

not really wantin a rattle i want deep loud bass

so dynamat the shit out the trunk huh

with that kind of output it will still rattle dynamat is way over rated IMHO i have seen as much as 3-4 db gain using it but it isnt cost effective IMO I have also seen no gain whatsoever with it.

if you really want to eliminate as much rattle as possible take everything out of the trunk including wires and lights and go have it rhino lined. its a little cheaper and works as well or better I think.

How much does it usually cost to have a trunk rhino lined?

how do you figure this?

4 12s is going to have more cone area and going to have better heat dispersion with 4 motors vs 2

sq is subjective, except for the fact that everyone knows smaller subs is be faster and be hits the high bass better...//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

if you compare same models with 2 15s and 4 12s off same power, then yea 2 15s are going to be louder because you starving the 12s of power

Assuming we are comparing the same woofers... four 12's have more cone area than two 15's, and have twice as much coil to absorb power. Which would have more output potential should be obvious.

The only thing I question is how much room is in that trunk. What's actual cubic feet to work with? That will likely dictate what size, and how many drivers you should aspire for.
