Well first of all i love my pioneer! And i have never really been a Clarion fan.....but this new unit is looking GREAT! Built in Nav..3-D maps.....bluetooth...4v pre's.....hp and lp...parametric eq......all the bells and whistles.....but what i love is the animated GUI! You can slide to the next page like a iphone and rearrange your buttons....cool as ****! Found it for around $600 shipped....check it out!

I doubt clarion would put out a subpar product, I personally haven't owned any head units besides alpine but I've always heard that clarion is up there with alpine Kenwood and pioneer

I don't believe it has a 13 band para eq, it might , but I thought I read somewhere that it was a 3 band para eq.

Clarion wouldn't put out El cheapo junk, though their low end HU's are down right cheap, but Clarion was ahead of the curve a few years back before any of the other brands were and in some respects they still are today. I was a Clarion fan from back in the day (~93) and have always had their HU's in my install. Later I was looking for a double din that had certain features, Eclipse was the only one that came close. A friend of mine had/has the ECD-415 and that was a sweet HU so I've always had a spot for Eclipse too. Now with Eclipse out of the aftermarket game, Clarion will be my top dog again. It always has been, but ... you know.

I will warn, I'm a Clarion freak and a collector of theirs.

We'll be waiting on your review to see what the catch is? It might have slow bootup, echo in the bluetooth, weak outputs, or slow ipod? It looks nice, and its about time Clarion did a double din that can compete with the rest. Clarion has always let me down in the past, but maybe this new one is ok?

What does everyone think about the Pioneer AVIC3 that debuted a few yrs ago for $999.99???? The Clarion retails for $999.95, Just because you find it elsewhere for less doesn't mean it's slow to boot up or echoy......

For some reason, which I forgot to mention in my earlier post, our local Best Buy has one, ONLY one. Even the salesmen didn't know why. It operates very smoothly and from what little I was able to play with it, it was very nice. I too would choose the NX501 to replace my Eclipse AVN6620 when the time comes.

I never said it was slow to boot. I'm waiting on someone to review it first. If the Clarion is such a great unit, it would've already been reviewed. If you're a patient person you'll like the Avic. The newest Avics bootup kind of slow IMO. The new ones don't seem much faster than my f90bt. All units with built-in navi have to go through a bootup process, and the retail price isn't going to make it faster. You need to go to the Avic forum and check all the problems they have before you buy, but most of them love their Pioneers no matter how much it messes up. I have 2 Pioneers, an Alpine ina-w900bt, and a single din Clarion with 6 volt outs right now. The Clarion sounds the weakest when running amps.

I never said that YOU (or anyone) said it was slow to bootup, I just meant that because it's cheaper elsewhere doesn't qualify it as slow or.....

Also, I don't recall Clarion ever making a HU with 6v outs, the highest was 4v. They did however make an EQ that would put out 6 or 7v.

I have Clarion brochures for 93,96,97,98,99,00,01,02,03,04,05,06,07,08,09,10,and 11. No where do I see a 6v HU. The 9255's had the most stout output sections, capable of up to 9v, but with both the treble/bass boosted.

Some of the 2007 and 2008 Clarions had 6v/6ch outputs (575,675,775,585,785). The 2008s were probably the last good year for Clarion single din decks, but I wasn't a fan of "SlidetraK", since Hitachi took over they just aren't what they used to be. I heard a rumor they were considering pulling out of aftermarket and doing OEM only.
