Found me a new hobby...

Trust me, I'm not gonna jump on a 600 on my first day and let her rip. I'd like to end up with a CBR or something of the like, but it's not what I'm going to start out out. I like a lot of suggestions of getting a Ninja - reliable, easy to control, a good learner. Afterwards, I'll sell it off and start moving up.
As far as gear goes, I plan on always wearing a helmet - especially on long rides. Am I going to wear gloves and leather boots? To be totally honest, probably not. But I'm definitely going to take it slow learning on a first bike. And I'm gonna be sure I know all of the ropes before hopping on a 600. I rode on one before and going from 0-130 that quick was pretty scary, TBH. I'll get used to it in time, though. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif
Always, always wear a helmet. I don't care if it's not required in your state. Look into a decent textile jacket, you can zip out the lining on most and then they are not much warmer than not wearing a jacket. Gloves are a great idea as well, road rash would ****. I've been lucky so far and have never had an accident in my 20 years on a street bike, still wear all my gear. Even if I'm just loading the bike on a trailer the helmet is on.

Speaking from experience, is we? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif
yup....I have seen plenty die with sport bikes, the problem is young kids like you get fked up

because of your lack of driving experience

Across the street neighbor bought a Honda shadow, good bike to learn on, at least he was smart and came over and asked if he could learn on one of the dirt bikes first. Was funny sitting on the porch watching him dump it a dozen times in the grass. Good thing the bike was electric start. Op, gotta work into it.
pssh, that suzuki I learned on was a damn kick start...my leg was so tired by the end of the day

Theres my 3 babies!

And to whoever says that their dirtbike will outpull a sport bike, you are high. I own both, i know that the R6 will demolish a dirtbike.
I figured you would chime in eventually //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

you dont see 16 year old on Harleys.......but I did not mean the bike,I ment the age assho........good luck and watch your arce
You sound like a bitter old man. I've been riding since I was 18 and never laid my bike down. I've had a few close calls and most of them were caused by people DRIVING CARS.

I got a good deal on the dirtbikes, and i bought the R6 brand new. Totally worth it. Even though my friends are breaking bones like crazy on their bikes this year, hopefully im not next
I feel ya, I got my Yamaha bike for 1350 and resold at 1700 over a year later

Lol that *****. My first bike was a kick, I love the electric start.

The worst was the 90 somethin 600xr my dad had.. Kick with primer bar, pump the kick six times and kick it the hardest you can. Gotta be over six feet to ride that sucker

So if you saw someone wreck their car would you call everyone that wanted to learn how to drive stupid? Shit happens man. I like to think the majority of riders out there are like me and ride responsibly but unfortunately the ones you always hear about are the other kind. The kind that pull wheelies going down the freeway and never wear helmets. As far as I'm concerned if they're dumb enough to not wear a helmet then natural selection says they're making our civilization smarter by not living long enough to breed...but that doesn't mean everyone is like that and you can generalize so broadly.
