I have an escalade ( the short tahoe styled one ) my set up is ;

(2) Sundown Audio SA-15

Hifonics Brz1700.1D

9 cubes @ 32Hz

I have been piecing together the rest of my system. So Far I have the Hifonics TZi4408 & Polk DXI6500 Component Set. These will be going in the front. I had planned on bridging the amp to run the front polks and leave the rears stock for now, and maybe just run some coax's off of the head unit down the road. Another option was 4 sets of components.

I forgot I do have a set of DXI690 6x9 speakers laying around.

I suppose I could cut my rear doors up and install them there, but I REALLY do not like that idea as I do not want to do irreversible modifications to my truck. If advised that would be a good option I could be convinced.

I am going to be building an amp rack, that will place the amps right behind the second row, and angled towards the back of the truck. I was thinking about cutting in some 6x9 holes into it ( which would probably place the speakers right behind the rear seats ) and install the polk there and leave the rear door speakers out of the equation.

Would this be a good option or should get another set of speakers for the doors?

Here is an idea of how I would mount them.

that would be the view if you had the rear captian chairs folded down and you were sitting on the center console

A good set of coax 6x9s will sound good and loud firing from behind, especially built on axis like you have. Im running some in the rear deck right now. When I used to run them 80hz-3.5khz, they sounded great like that.

I think you ll like it.

How itll sound overall depends on the performance of those speakers but if they are good they should sound great.

How do you plan on crossing your 6.5s and 6x9s?

The 6x9s are coax right.

6x9s are 3 way

I have the cross overs that the components came with so I was planning on running those and setting the amp to full ( no electronic cross over ) for the fronts. If I run the 6x9s off the amp I may use the electronic cross over settings but I really have no knowledge on how to set those up, but I am sure I can learn.

With as much bass as I have coming from the rear and the fact that the 6x9s if placed on the amp rack will fire directly into the rear seats, I am afraid they wouldnt even be heard. So I am thinking about cutting the door up more seriously.

I ended up grabbing a pair of memphis 6.5 mid range ( part of a set of components ) for the rear doors, so I dont have to modify the door as much if at all. May add a cross over and set of tweeters some time in the future.
