you could use a router to cut out like four or six circles of any size out of MDF or any other wood for that matter. then use a couple more pieces of wood to screw them together in a straight line, then wrap poster board around them. then coat the poster board with vasaline and glass away!
i'm thinkin about trying that

I'm currently working on my 1st glass project and I used duct tape. I can't imagine anything working better.
