Do you guys call them exploders because the chassis and suspension falls apart and they squeak and rattle like an old *** see-saw?

Just wondering because i see alot of them like that, didnt know the meaning behind it.

Term came from the mid 90s late 90s versions. Ford issued a press release to all owners asking them to not park near anything flammable, which included other cars, buildings, trees, grass, and the list went on. Reason was the explorer could actually catch on fire or even explode and cause damage to other property.

My brother cares not, and still drive his to this day.

I remember this

I call mine an Exploder because the rear doors always seem to break and won't unlock, no matter how many times I fix it, and then 10,000 problems I've had with it. Makes me want to Explode with anger

Always seems to make for a good joke when I have new passengers in the back and I park the truck, get out, and start walking away with them freaking out because they can't get the door to open

i think ford stopped making quality products in the early 90s just like all the other american car makers.

The real issue were the tires. The catching fire was a corporate-wide issue. The cruise control cutout was changed from the old brake pedal mechanical switch to defeat to a new-style master cylinder mounted electrical pressure switch that would leak and get brake fluid in and around the sensor (which had power at all times from my understanding??) and this could start a fire. Even when parked and no one near and having not been run. Simple fix done under recall.

LOVE my Bronco even with the standard issues she has.
