I was reading from way back in August, and I was just wondering about the quote "the new hondas almost have 260hp..." Now, if that is correct, then the honda dealer lied to me when I was trying to buy the new Honda Civic Ex.

LMAO!!! Fords are for poor people. A used Ford is a poor man's best friend. The resale drops like 80% after a year. But I guess they have their uses. I think a ford, chevy, or dodge is great up until a 100000 miles, then they fall apart. Ford just cant make transmissions at all and after 100k you get use to fixin the p.o.s. every **** weekend.

Hondas and Toyota are the most practical cars to buy on the market. They are reliable and not much more expensive than a Ford or Chevy or Hundai.

If you want luxury I am going to have to stick with Lexus and Acura.

BOTTOM LINE: Japanese Imports are your best value by far

How many people are willing to buy a ford with 150 000 miles

how man people are willing to buy a honda with 150 000 miles

american engineers **** at making cars...period.

know your facts son...the civic does not have 260 hp...the v6 accord does

Twin turbo's were easier to do. Also look a TON cooler. Just telling any of the import guys what I'm having done. There's only one import in town that I'd be afraid of and it also has twin turbos (supra). The vettes I don't care about But the guy that lives at the end of my street works for Eagle industries has 3 vipers. I will never mess with a viper....

BTW My F100 is still street legal. IF I was stuck in a small hick town with no other choice I could run 93 oct. gas in it to..... Pretty much all I will have to do is plug a few adjustments into the computer and be ready to go...

thats wild, cant wait for picks of the engine, not to start anything but saltyjesus seems like he has not experienced with american cars, just likes to bad mouth them

honestly, sheesh.......

look at the ZO6 0-60 time then the vipers...not much difference, driver skill makes the difference....top end goes to the viper, looks to the vette(MO), price, features luxury all to the vette. the money u save buying the vette can be spent on sound system, motor upgrades, etc, then u stomp the viper...for the same money.

imports ****

wait to the new hemi powered 300M(or whatever they will call it) or challanger is made!!!

1 chevy

2 dodge

3 imports

4 ford

i would have to say that Toyotas have some of the best trucks out there as far as performance. I have had mine for 10 years now and 140,000 miles and have had no major repairs on it. It is a standard and i still have the stock clutch on it. The only part that i have replaced is the alt and that is only because it was a 60 amp alt and i needed far more power than that for my system. I would agree that my truck is not one of the best looking trucks out there, in fact i laugh like hell everytime that i park next to a F350 cuz my truck looks like a toy. But it does outperform anything in the long run.

Agreed.

BTW- Something that is pretty impressive is a 3rd Gen. 4Runner (96-03) equipped with a TRD supercharger and valve body upgrades. Considering the weight of that truck, the supercharged 3.4l engine can give many stock sports cars a run for their money.

Look it up the vette is the only car out of all the fords vipers imports whatever you want......vette is the only one to stand up to over 100 miles a hour for a extend period of time...the were blowing shafts left in right anything you could think of that could go wrong did for the mustang and all your other cars....yep enough said gm makes the best and you will not find a car for the price dollar for dollar you go and find a car that is stock brand new for just under 50 that will go to 0-60 in under 4 seconds it is unheard of first off for a car to do that let alone to be that cheap speaking compared to the viper,911 whatever you want to compare it too mustangs WERE the past now they are a bunch of shit they r make like it see so what do you get in return SHIT!!! for the mustang i would go and get a ***** am with ram air would smoke hair right off of the stang!

I think the Z06's 0-60mph time slowed down from 02' to 03' - 3.9sec to 4.something? At the same time, the Vipers dropped from 4.1 to 3.9 I'm pretty sure. I would love to have a Viper instead of a Vette. Don't get me wrong, I would love to have either, and I know a Z06 is more affordable, but there are just so many vettes out there...

How about this car:

2003 Mercedes-Benz SL55 AMG

493 hp @ 6,100 rpm (V8)

516 lb-ft @ 2,750 - 4,000 rpm

Starts at 125 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Originally posted by bootleg You never mentioned that you had it modified, I still don't beleive that your truck weighs 5k when my neighbors 1 ton truck hauler weighs 4,500 lbs.

Sad? I don't think so, a vette only has 330 horses compared to your '450 horses and 550 ft. lbs torque'. And are those your guestimated numbers, you know like little rice boys do after they add coffee-can exhausts and claim they gained 100 HP when in all actuality they just lost all the low end torque they ever had for the top end they'll never get. Just wondering, you know, as I'd like to see a real dyno sheet for your truck.
A vette only has 330 horses ?? the zo6 has 405 hp !

two tenths ain't a bunch, it can be made up by driver. that's how a good holeshot beats a quicker e.t. i don't think the vette is too far behind in the 1320 either. not bad for 100hp less and 30k cheaper then the viper.

ur right about ur neighbor having one...that's kinda the beauty of the vette. a world-class sports car that almost anyone can have. u also get some luxeries that u don't in other cars. the closest thing to the vette is porsche as far as daily driveability and comfort.

those amg cars are badass..period. BUT, for the money, u can get faster cars...just not as fancy!! i'd take a amg anytime!!

i think the regular vettes are 335 hp or 355 hp, i can't remember..going to look it up!

If you ask me nobody makes a "Better" car ( well exclude KIA In this ) There is a lot in how welll a car holds up Maint. driver. Ect. I have had many diff cars and I Believe you either get a good one or a bad one or somewhere inbetween , I have prolly had a car from about every manuf. you can think of , A 85 Nissan Maxima with 344,000 miles on it sold it 4 years ago (still going!) I work on nissans and have seen them do more without any problems But have seen them break with alot less , Ive had fords , dodges , nissans , toyotas , pontiac , chevy , You name it ive had it , Some have been good some have been horrible ! I think its just the luck of the draw in a car or truck !

here we go......

LS1 is a code name for a performance masterpiece. And you'll find it under the hood of every 2003 Corvette coupe and convertible. Specifications include an aluminum block designed for stiffness, low mass, special camshaft design for excellent engine breathing and a 10.1:1 compression ratio that helps enhance engine power. But the numbers tell the real story: engine displacement — 5.7 liters, horsepower — 350 at 5200 rpm, torque — 360 lb.-ft. at 4000 rpm with the standard four-speed automatic transmission and 375 lb.-ft. at 4400 rpm with the available six-speed manual transmission.
that's for the LS-1 powered corvette coupe's/convertibles. and...

Taking Corvette to extreme levels is something of a tradition — and the LS1 V8 engine in Corvette makes a world-class foundation for the LS6 V8 engine in the Z06.

The LS6 is, more than anything, robust. Compared with the LS1, the LS6 aluminum block, cylinder heads, camshaft and induction systems are revised for better breathing at high rpm. A positive crankcase ventilation system improves oil control during racetrack and high-lateral-acceleration maneuvers. Plus, a unique-to-Z06 titanium exhaust system (mufflers and tailpipes) has less mass and more strength than aluminum or magnesium.

Producing 405-horsepower at 6000 rpm and capable of zero-to-60 in under four seconds, the LS6 engine is good news for performance-focused enthusiasts.

now for performance numbers...

Acceleration Specifications (1) Coupe Convertible Z06 0–60 mph, Man. *****. (sec.) 4.6 (manual), 4.9 (auto) 3.9 (manual)

Braking, 60-0 mph (ft.) 125

Top Speed (kph/mph)(2) 281.6 / 175 275.2 / 171

1/4-mile manual (sec./mph) 13.22 / 109 mph 12.4 / 116

Lateral Acceleration (g) 0.93 1.00

Coefficient of Drag (cd) 0.29 0.33 0.31
wow, the zo6 is actually slower then the standard vette! now for some viper numbers....

Viper holds its own against the best in the world and performs beyond expectations. It does all this thanks to an engine size most cars can only dream of - Viper's 8.3-liter, 505 cubic-inch V10 engine is virtually all new and more powerful than ever. It pounds out 500 horsepower at 5,600 rpm and produces 90 percent of its whopping 525 lb.-ft. of torque from 1500 to 5600 rpm.
and times...

i can't find any at dodge's site. hel!, they have more specs on the zo-6 then their own viper! anyway, i'll look later..gotta go!
