For those who've had installs done...

I'm having my install done next week (2 amps, sub, false floor, HU, comps) and starting to make my list and check it twice for things I want to keep in mind to make sure everything goes flawlessly with it. Questions for the installer, things to ensure are done, etc.

Looking for input here on things that should be questioned and or looked out for.

I would check with locals that had them install stuff and see the work they had done first and the type of cash they are charging. What kind of war they will give you if anything fails from there install. What kind of wires etc they will be using and how they will run it through the car etc. What kind of wood do they deal with and glue I always like to know that there not using thin sht stuff. How long the installer has been doing this type of work and WHO the installer will be doing your car. Just a few small things that i like to know I am sure theres alot more but that should get you started lol. Good luck

Double check everything they did before you leave and BEFORE you pay them, if possible. When i mean check everything, i mean check everyhting, from the battery terminals beging on snug, to gromets around the power wire running throught the firewall, to the screws on the amps that hold down the wires. I even went as far as telling them to call me and letting me see the box completed, before the subs were put in and before the box was put in the car (checked to make sure it was cauked, and that they didnt perform any "short-cuts"). Tell them to write down where you want everything ran, and leave little stikky notes throughout the car to remind them where you want stuff to go (used this method for fuse holder location and distr. block location). Other than that, good luck. And remember, you're paying them, so you get a say-so in how you want you system to turn out!

Make sure you have the installation place show you the papers on what is covered under warrenty or not in the install so that if something goes wrong they don't say "oh well... it isn't covered".

Oh, and if you buy an amp kit from them, tell them you want all of the extra wire, cause you never know when you might need it. You didn't pay for the kit for them to keep the extras.

Take pictures, lots and lots of pictures of your car. Interior/ exterior. If they damage something, then you have pictures to prove it. Let them know that you have recent pictures of the car/truck. It maybe going a little too far, but I have heard of people getting damage done to their vehicle while it was in the hands of the shop and the shop saying that the damage was already there.

Ask them where they are going to ground your amps

Ask for any extra materials that are left over

Ask if they are going to run new speaker wires, or just tap into your stockers.

that's just what i'd ask being an installer at cc...

most reputable shops i wouldn't even worry about it.

Still going. I decided to let them seal up my doors too since they gave me a good install price on the Dynamat (120 bucks for 2 layers on each). I'm also having 4 piezos put in.

Possibly done late tomorrow, no later than late Friday.

I laid down the law to the installer though. He's pretty cool and looked at me crazy on a couple of things I asked as if I insulted him or something. Looked and listen to a previous install in a camaro leaving out the door and it was clean as hell (2 13w7s w/ a 1000/1 on each. Was ridiculous and I predicted the guys hatch window would be cracked by tomorrow :lol

So far so good tho.

Update:

Things are looking good so far but it's taking longer than I expected. May not be done until Sunday now. How long do you all think this should take?

- Rip out old wires from previous install

- 2 layers of Dynamat to front doors

- Build sealed box for 12

- Build False Floor for sub and 2 amps

- Install sub and 2 amps w/false floor

- Install 4 Mini Piezo tweeters

- Install Head Unit

- Relocate alarm LED
