How did you go about getting the design? (not talking about lame tribal tattoos) Did you just find one on the internet and print it out and take it to the place? Is there a selection? Or did you get one "custom"?
I ask because I want a tattoo, and I'm sort of know what I want, but not exactly sure and I'm wondering if the tattoo artist will work with me to get what I want.

I had a rough idea of what I wanted. I took my idea to the tattoo parlor, and looked at all of the tattoos they had. Looking at these tattoos gave me a good idea of what they can and can't do, various styles, etc.

I took my idea, added the touches I picked up from the pre-made designs I saw. I sketched out what I wanted, but I'm not the best artist out there. So, I took my rough sketch to the tattoo artist, let him add his touch (for instance, certain lines have to be drawn a certain way depending upon where on your body the tattoo is). I reviewed it, tweaked it to be perfect, then got it tattooed.

Two days old; it looks sort of distorted there but looks perfect with my arms to my side.

I'm working on my next one now!
