4kw rms+ while being able to heard the highs clearly is more impressive
I've got a single 10" sitting next to me with a port bigger than it's cone area. With the cone moving maybe 5-10mm each way if even that, at tuning, I have significant port noise, off of only 400 watts, probably more like 300, and it's rated to take 800 (that's how violent the air movement in the port is, if you couldn't make the connection)Man I just can't imagine 1 12" getting that loud....Must be moving 5"I guess I'm still a noob
So one sub can be louder than another of the same size in the exact same install without having more linear excursion? The movement or xmax, does not determine if it is "loud".
so yes, you are still a noob
No, in a specified enclosure (exact same one) two different subs moving the exact same distance will have equal output (assuming that excursion is at the same frequency)So one sub can be louder than another of the same size in the exact same install without having more linear excursion?

That's what I thought. No, in a specified enclosure (exact same one) two different subs with the exact same amount of excursion will have equal output (assuming that excursion is at the same frequency)
It doesn't automatically. This only applies for the exact same environment for the subs (enclosure/etc)That's what I thought.
See, I'm growing out of my noobishness nicely.
Edit: So how does higher excursion not make a sub system louder 15Nissen?
Gotcha. It doesn't automatically. This only applies for the exact same environment for the subs (enclosure/etc)
