For Rock and Hip Hop, 2-8's or 1-10?

I have limited space and am in the process of upgrading a stock stereo system. I have a cavity for a hidden sub with about .75 cu ft. Would I get louder, deeper base from two 8's in this cavity or one 10? The box will be a sealed box. Thanks.

The TC10 OEM would work good for you. The big *** motor may not fit all that well though.

Gonna depend on the specifics of the subs more than anything else. The 8's might have a slight cone area advantage. Might.

One of the biggest speedbumps of the sub is that I only have 5" mounting clearance to play with (after the box). I am looking at the RE's, Fosgates, JL's, and Kickers.

but if your looking at the sme 2 8s and 10 then most likely the 2 8s would be better with slightly more cone area like mentioned

I am in Augusta. So the fact that 2 8's offer a combined cone area greater than one ten means that they will be louder and deeper than one shallow mount 10 with the same wattage feeding it (them)? Even though the 8's will share the .75 cu ft volume and the 10 would own the entire volume? Is that right?

That's the gist, but not always going to be the case. It's gonna depend on the individual subs in question.

Have you considered a single boston G5 10"? I've heard them before and they are rediculous sealed. They only need right around that same space too... JMO

I think one 10 that works in that space well would be nice.

OK, here is another spin. How about two square 8's (L5's) rather than one 10 with a 5" (kicker,re,ed,rockford fosgate...) or less mounting depth? Obviously more cone area, but well suited in a small sealed box and for rock and hip-hop?

Single Memphis MClass 10 or 2 MClass 8s. Subs do very well in extremely small sealed boxes (had a pair of 12s in .5 cubes each with polyfill), and require very little power (you'd be looking at around 200-300w total for either application). Output is good for small subs in such little airspace, and SQ is nice.
