For all of you NOSers

Im in Palm Bay Florida not far from Daytona so i see my healthy share of imports around here. The difference is that if peoples cars arent fast here most dont try to act like they are. I have a Civic DX right now and i dont fool myself into thinking its fast. Its got a little 1.5 with only a short Ram Air intake and a cat back. I have Ground Effects, a wing, altezzas, rims, neons, indeglo guages and all the goodies. (and no i didnt pay thousands for the exterior mods) I currently have an Acura Integra engine im getting swapped into it but its getiing prepped at my freinds shop... when my car is done i would be more then willing to push it against anyones Camero, SUV, or Stang. . .

 
I have a Blitz front end with Ninja sides and Rear. I also have a Carbon fiber Turbo Hood and a 43" Aerospeed Aluminum wing (black). After the swap i know im not going to dart off fast enough to go back into time... but ill be competition for any non-turbo charched 5.0. thats all i want, and i want my car to look good too

Also why is there this misconception that it costs twice as much to make an import fast as it does a Mustang?

 

Ok well I have nothing agiast people who drive imports i mean i have one but I hate when the stupid kids do that and I am not sayin that its just imports yea some cameros and firebirds ect do the same but i gureentee more kids have imports than muscle cars manily casue of insuring i mean around here thats all younger kids have. As for cost twice as much it does I bought a stock 1990 Mustang GT I have put around 3500 in the motor i bought the car for 3000 now thats 6grand all I would have to do is put a supercharger in the car and say good bye to your azz. I mean you throw a turbo or a supercharger in a mustang or camero and they will kill most imports with the same mods and they say o well they are 4bangers well they also weigh alot less and some make alot of **** power and most come with turbos in em so thats the advantage they have. I mean I have a 1996 eclipse with a turbo 5spd and W/O nos it is runnin low 12 high 11s and thats around 1500 in the engine no too **** bad. It will smoke my 1995 mustang GT but its also a turbo and hell of alot lighter plus its AWD so doesnt have much spin off the line. But I have less in my car without NOS or a turbo and bet I could spank you every time. My mods range from BBK Headers to trick flow manifold I am makin 450 hps not too bad without a turbo or supercharger compare it to a new torque monster 2003 Cobra with alot more top end. I cant wait to race one let alone drive one.
 
and i agree with that, but the fact is i know there are people that Love their domestics. But why is it so hard to beleive that an Import can be made to go fast???? It uses half the gas, its lighter, funner to drive, and IMO looks better then domestics.

You have a 1990 mustang Gt. and you have 6500 into it, at the same time i could grab up a 1990 CRX HF, put a ZC JDM 1.6 DOHC, Turbo Charge it, Modify the drive train and i would have a competitive car even for your mustang. Thats all within 4-5,500. . .

All im trying to point out is that for basically any domestic you can hook up there can be an import hooked up to compete with it. Dont burn imports in general for the action of 16 year olds that have Playschool Teggy's Civics and Clipses. . . People who race imports take them kids as serious as Die Hard Domestic Drivers do. We laugh at kids that drive their v-6 mustangs and their RS Cameros just as you do to kids that drive wimpy imports. But when i come across a Domestic that i know is fast, i give all due respect. . . . and i dont need to race the car either before i give respect. if your running a street legal car that can push 1/4's in high 13's or less, you have a basically quick car regardless of who makes it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif

 
Yea I see what your sayin but I never said imports can not be fast I pointed out that I have one and I love it but I hate when other people blow it outta porpotion I mean its not just kids it's older ones too. And I mean I do like imports but to like them they need to have more than just body kits and wings I mean they need to have the engine to back thier ***** up as well. I am not a ricer hater Because on my top 10 car list there is around 6 imports on it. Hell I have had many imports 1991 300zx TT, Eclipse spyder, Eclipse GS, Civic CRX when in high school, and would ove to have a Mazda RX-7 I had also a 3000GT VR4 so no i am not a rice hater just dont agree with how some blow it outta hand and the same with domestics when people put cragers on thier v6 mustangs and a hood scoop and think that thier fast IMO everyone does it just the impot side is alot worse and then agian look what the Fast and Furious movie did totally messed up the street racing game IMO here anyway.

 
I like american cars, The jap car craze is exactly what I said a craze. What if the "fast and the furious" movie would have been the "old and the torquy" and they raced around in old camaros, novas,road runners, chargers, GTO's, mustangs, firebirds, and the god car the vin disel took out was like a ferrari 250gt(gotta still play on the movie). Would this have changed the car craze NO probably not but the movie would have been a HELL of a lot better. I waited that whole **** movie to see that charger, and there wasent enough of it. I like one import can and it is old as hell, and it has a corvette motor in it:D What car none other than Darius' 240z. Even though he did cook the engine on the dyno that car kicked ***. Supercharged LS1 6-speed.

I dont think the jap car craze is any bigger then earlier years when everyone wanted GTO's and Mustangs. The fast and the furious did have influence over the scene and i could tell there were alot more ricers running around after the movie. But at the same time it shed light to alot of people who didnt have a real high opinion of imports. My roommates uncle is a muscle car fanatic. he has an old thunderbird and a 69 fastback Mustang, and a harley. His next project car is going to be either a Toyota Supra or a Mazda RX7 Turbo. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif Most Domestic and Muscle car fanatics are in a whole different generation then me. they admired mustangs and corvettes, my generation (for the most part) Admire Skylies and Supras lol its stupid to argue over which is better to have cause they both have their flaws (displacement, weight etc..) but as am enthusiast (spelt wrong lol) you would think some would be a little more open minded and stop underestimating 4 cylinders

FYI the JDM ba16A 1&2 are compared mostly compared to the small block chevy;)

 
agreed, everyone can sit and argue about car till no end, I mean come on were men and thats what we like to do ****!t. But it all comes down to personal choices and taste. If ya like muscle cars theres a good chance you like Harleys more than crotch rockets, If you like ricers chances are you like croctch rockets more than hogs. Its sorta a style and pizzaz thing, and how we identify ourselves in socieity.

This is just what iv seen, Feels like a outline of a possible theory paper. The theory of cars and bikes.

If you read Car and Driver, you would know that a 4 cyl can eat that car all up. It may not be a Jap import, but it is def. and import. The Lotus Elise, with no mods, no nothing. It stomped an SVT Cobra like it was a little child in every category.

So never underestimate a 4 cyl.

 
Hmm If I paid over a 100,000 grand for a SVT i think that no 4 banger on gods green earth would touch it lol. I dont underestimate them but when a 30,000 dollar car can keep up with a 150,000 dollar car you gotta give the old muscle cars thier props. And those 4bangers are worked more than you could emagine.

 
how can you guys argue about cars when you don't set any standards. comparing stock $3,000 --5.0 to a 8,000-- civic with 2-4,000 worth of work and saying yea i'll kill ya in the 1/4 mile. Or the cobra to a lotus. man you could take a 2,000 mustang and put a 500cu in siamese bore block with 40+ psi of boost all all that and kill any manufactured car out there ... but what does in mean???? nothing.

you can't paper race without standards. it should be how much total money to make a car do what. like if you got a 90 5.0 for $3,500 what can a 3,500 civic do. OR what if you put $5000 in each what could they do. from my view a bigger motor will always be faster with the same amount of money cause with a import you always play catch up

It still would never work that way bro, nobody pays retail for shyt anymore and if they do they are missing out. matters to me Or anyone who isn't rich. what is the sense of spending money on parts for a car JUST to make it go the same speed that a V8 goes stock. it like buying tons of 6 1/2 speakers to compete against 12"s OR 15"s. Yea you can spend money of tons of 6 1/2s and say "HA HA my 6 1/2s kill your subs" At what cost? If we go buy what your saying THEN why not put that money to a v8? it would be more EFFECTIVE
 
well....what v8 car do you know that is cheaper than a 4 cylinder???? say you buy a brand new mustang gt for 25,000....or however much they cost. what if you were to buy a civic for 15,000 brand new and then added 10,000 worth of parts??? whatever is your style. personally id rahter go with a 4 cylinder and put that much money into parts for a couple of reasons. 1) nobody would expect you to be that fast 2) gas money 3) insurance
