Football!!!

I've never played football. But you don't have to play football to know football. I know a lot of people who played HS football that actually don't know squat about technique or scheme, they were just physically bigger than other HS students. College football would be way more telling than HS, IMO. In HS its just about athletics, you get some brief introduction to scheming and technique, but its not till college when you realize you can't do it off athletics alone, because everyone is a better athlete, from the NFL your top notch athletics mean pretty much nothing. Everybody is one of the best in the world at their position, even the backups. You need technique and discipline to play at the highest level. But playing has nothing to do with understanding is the main point I'm making.
You bring up valid points about the high school athletics. College ball is much more telling. Lots of people don't understand the true competitiveness/atmosphere of the game unless you've played (Yes I played D3 ball until I fucked my back up, but now I help coach). Some things you all have said about conferences, teams, and rankings makes this obvious. Some things you all have said are very good points, but others are sheer ignorance of the game. I promise I don't mean to offend anyone, just stating the obvious (at least obvious to me)

Personally, I'm not a big CFB fan. Its kinda slow and gimmicky for me. I just like to give SEC fans crap.

I've actually been working with this kid (Odd story how I know the kid, but hes a real good kid with a lot of potential that may be restricted due to his environment. I've been doing my best to be a positive influence in his life. He has basically moved into my house LOL. But it is my lady's mom's on and off POS BF's son.) Kid is 14 and going to be a freshman this year? He really wants to play football and is pretty athletic. Given his size I think he'll be good at WR or S or both (for HS). I've been working with rout running and some of the nascence at playing defense and keeping things in front of him. He's a bright kid, but I don't think he has a NFL future, as a very small % of athletes get there. So I've been working with him to get technique and things like that down so he can catch college eyes through his time in HS. That way he can take his athletics and learn to do something for a career. But don't think of football as a career, use it to do what you want. I think even if he can become a top notch player his size will hold him back from any NFL aspirations.
